Is Buddy graduating?

I read something where he said he needed 9 more hours. I suspect his Mom will make sure he takes care of that.

The timeline for the NBA Draft is pushed back several months compared to the NFL Draft, so it really shouldn't be an issue for a basketball player to finish their Spring semester unless they just lose interest.

Honestly, he needs to be doing full on draft prep right now. Studying for meaningless finals and spending time in class when the difference in one draft spot is hundreds of thousands of dollars is insanity. He can come back next summer to finish up, or do it online down the road. Now is not the time.

Agreed. Nine hours is nothing.

I don't know when all of the NBA combines and draft camps are, but there's like one month left in the semester. I'd say just finish it up now. It's not like Buddy wasn't putting the time in when he was still obligated to be in class.

pretty sure Spangler and Buddy ....def, and maybe Cousins as well are in "on-line" classes. Read an interview with Spangler..and Buddy that they could get any/all the time in the gym they wanted because all their classes are on-line.

When I was at OU, I remember hearing a scholarship athlete say that the sports that made it hardest to keep up with you academics and graduate on time were the sports whose seasons spanned both the fall and spring semester. Of course this was before online classes and intersession classes.

Absolutely. He could get those 9 hours in the off season or online or something.

No disrespect, geeoh, but I wouldn't do that if I was Buddy. At this point, 100% of his focus should be to put himself into a position to be drafted as high as he possibly can be...it has to be 24/7. This just isn't the time for school.

So you are saying that he was slacking in his efforts to win a championship and now that's out of the way he can focus more on basketball?

Exactly. Buddy was already pushing himself to the limit in improving his basketball craft. I could understand the argument of putting school on hold a lot more if he had a whole semester AFTER the current one in order to graduate. He's got one month left, and I'm betting he finishes it out, especially if it's true that he's got online classes only. If he has to be at a scouting combine, or whatever, he can still work on his classes even though he's not on campus.

I have no idea how much or little time he was putting into school. What I do know is that there is about a $3,000,000 difference (over three years) in being a mid-lottery pick and being a low-lottery draft pick. My guess is THAT is what he is studying for right now...an extra 3 mil...unless, of course, his degree will make up that difference. Now, if he can somehow pull off all of that multitasking, more power to the young man.

I'm sure he will graduate. I can't see him knowingly hurting the programs APR by not finishing his online classes.

Especially any degree he can get taking almost entirely upper-level online courses.

Would love to know what his major is.

Isn't that pretty much every degree now besides one in science or engineering, where a lab is attached?
