Is there any way we can get out of the Maui Invitational?

Currently, the field consists of Connecticut, Kentucky, Michigan State, Virginia, Washington, Wichita State, Chaminade, and us. Other than Chaminade, there isn't a team in that field that we can beat. I think it would be a disastrous start to the season if we went 0-3 or 1-2 with a couple 25+ losses. How can we wriggle out of this tournament?

Disagree...we go to Maui, finish 1-2 (by the grace of God 2-1) against quality competition, play @ Arizona and then schedule a bunch of creampuffs at home during the rest of the non-conference.

You're trying to prepare your team for Big XII play, getting out of the Maui at this juncture doesn't accomplish that.

So your saying we should only play teams that we can guarentee a win?

Michigan State and Washington are the only teams in the field that should overly concern anybody.

UVA and UK have a bunch of young guys in new roles, UConn also doesn't have any shooters.

You have got to be kidding. The only team listed that we will be able to play with is the host and they aren't even Division 1.

Never in my life have I ever seen OU run from an opponent or opponents. I certainly hope we don't now even if we lose by a lot. UK lost all their players as well.

Virginia?

Going through a major scheme change and their top player is turning pro because he doesn't get along with Bennett. OU could definitely beat UVA.

On paper Washington and Michigan State are the only teams that should worry anybody. How the hell is the team going to play a Big12 schedule if teams with almost as much question marks scare you.

This thread is very aggie...or whornish, whichever. Honor our commitments, play our hardest, treat it like a business trip, and get what we can take.

As others have said, Washington and MSU are the only two teams on there that are most likely losses. It's fair game after that, IMO.

Or maybe you come together better than you thought you would and actually get something positive out of it. Who knows?

You don't run from this tourney. You embrace this tourney. Go to this tourney to win ball games and also show the fellas what they will have to go up against to win. BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!:clap

Nevermind! We just signed some guy named Abdi Ahmed who played basketball in the Canary Islands last year. We're the favorites to win the tourney now!

If you are scared, say you are scared! Geez, come on people these games can only help this team improve!!!!!!

Let's just play it and see where it gets us. i will be disappointed if we drop out. It will be a learning expierence for sure. (Good and Bad)
