Isaiah Cousins practices 'full speed'

didn't see the second page initially, here is more info on Booker's summer:

While most teams are going through organized summer workouts, Oklahoma’s Frank Booker and Iowa State’s Monté Morris are overseas playing on the United States’ Elite Under-20 team.

Iowa State assistant Cornell Mann said Tuesday that when he talked to Morris earlier in the day that he raved about Booker.

“He said he really played well and shot the ball well,” Mann said.

Booker, who will be a sophomore, averaged 5.1 points coming off the bench for the Sooners last year.

Cool opportunity for him

I really think Booker has a chance to turn into a really good player. Adequate athlete. Potential to be a great shooter. And appears to be a heady player.

Glad he was able to get some additional game time this summer.

Frank Booker has "it." His overall skill-set is not there, and he is sloppy as all get out ... but he doesn't back down from anyone, plays with abandon, and can make the big play when it's needed. He's going to be good down the road. Really good.

I agree with that. He has already come a long ways from the beginning of the season until the end. While I think that this tour will do him more good than these early practices, I am looking forward to him getting on campus. His return will make every position very competitive in practice.

Agreed. Booker was every bit as good as I had hoped he would be his freshman season. If he continues to improve, he has a very bright future at OU.

As for Cousins, did anyone read the article I posted a link to below? I was surprised when I read this part:

The bullet remains in his left shoulder.

Team physician Brick Schnebel talked to Cousins’ doctors in New York, and Cousins went through medical tests when he returned to Norman a week ago.

“Taking it out could actually be more traumatic than it going in,” OU athletic trainer Alex Brown told the site. “There’s a chance other problems could occur if you go exploring to pull it out. Where it is, it’s in a nice, safe place.”

I think Booker's athletism is underrated because of his rep as a shooter. I am basing that on how he blocks shots and gets up and down the court.

Not at all surprised at him having a good summer. Nice that he made that elite team as well. recruiting coup by Kruger.

Going to be some battle for playing time.

was going to post the same thing.. he had some very nice blocks.. takes me back to Austin Johnson and some of the awesome blocks he had with his long arms

An under appreciated Sooner. Wish he had been healthy his whole career!

It's really what it was. I bashed on him as much as the next guy, but if he had followed the career arc he was on early on, he would have been head and shoulders better his last 2 years. Injuries really derailed him.

No doubt about it. I appreciated his contribution more than most, because I knew first hand about the sacrifices he made to play at any level. To be honest, I'm not sure I would have suffered through the pain and frequent injections just to make himself available during his last two seasons.

AJ was a warrior and a great Sooner! Too bad his multiple injuries prevented him from showing how good he could have been.

Medically, leaving the bullet still in there isn't a surprise.

So, that old adage "the bullet has to come out" is only true in western movies? :D

Seriously, I knew bullets are left in place from time to time, depending on the location. But, isn't there a chance for infection?

If it was going to cause an infection, it would have already done so. That bullet will likely be embedded in him for life. No reason to go digging around if it is stable.

Extremely glad he is okay.

How will the bullet affect him if say he has to go in for an MRI?

How will the bullet affect him if say he has to go in for an MRI?

Actually, appears a group studied that. Here are their conclusions (from PubMed)

Ballistics made of lead with copper or alloy jackets appear to be safe with respect to MRI-related movement at 1.5-, 3-, and 7-T static magnetic fields, whereas ballistics containing steel may pose a danger if near critical body structures because of strong magnetic field interactions. Temperature increases of selected ballistics during 3-T MRI was not clinically significant, even for the ferromagnetic projectiles. Finally, ballistics containing steel generated larger artifacts when compared with ballistics made of lead with copper and alloy jackets and may impair the diagnostic use of MRI.

They have actually studied that. Bullets can migrate during an MRI, and they are not advised when the bullet is near the spinal cord or a major nerve or vessel.

Now, a microwave might prove interesting.
