All the best options being thrown around for OU are junior college players outside of Cezar, who just got an offer from KU.

Philip Jurick
Jurick is averaging right at a triple-double -- with 10.6 points, 12 rebounds and an astounding 9.4 blocks per game as the season wound down.

Jeremy Jones
Originally out of Chicago, Illinois and played at West Texas juco last year. 6'2 165. Averaging 17.9 points, 51% FG, 37% 3, 72% FT, 2.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.7 steals on the year.

Robert Goff
Already signed.

Blake Nash
6'1'' 180..Listing OU, Creighton, G-Town, West Virginia, and USF. Nash averages 20 points a game for the Tetons. He shoots with accuracy (56 percent from the floor and 41.3 percent from 3). Gotten to the free-throw line 124 times in 27 games. Out of Williston State CC.

I guess DM thinks Capel should be fired for looking at so many jucos, per his post last week.

D'oh, just saw the other thread about Nash.

And OU will stay in the cellar if they sign those guys. Even if those guys are productive, you've just mortgaged your future. It two years, OU's roster will be worse than it is now if they sign 4 juco guards, unless they run some more guys off and sign a couple of high school or prep school kids. Preferably Guerrero, Carter, or the Oklahoma two.

OU needs to sign some quality high school kids, if OU signs any more juco players I hope they contribute more than thompson and washington have.

I personally hope they get Jurick. He looks like the best option in the paint. Right now OU is carrying 4 bigs that don't play much (Thompson, Hardrick, Honore and Washington). It will not kill the program to sign both Goff and Jurick. If one contributes, OU will be in a much better position. If OU is truly worried about having too many seniors, redshirt one of them.

I love Jurick, he's good. But it's crazy to redshirt a juco junior. If you have to redshirt him, why sign him. Also, those guys aren't signing on to redshirt. In jurick's case he's used his redshirt. This is OU's biggest problem. Baylor, Texas A&M, and Texas are looking at 2012 and 13 while we're trying to scramble to even get a decent class in 2011.

I wouldn't mind using the Bill Snyder method. Let's get some of these dudes.

I was actually thinking Goff was the more likely redshirt candidate.

I would rather win now and worry about the roster when OU is in a better position than pass on a good player simply because he was a juco. If you assume OU can land one freshman and some Juco guys, the Sooners will return Clark, Neal, Blair, Newell, the one freshman, the guy that replaces Thompson, the guy that replaces Washinton, and the guy that replaces Honore. That would be 8 returning players. If two of the guys next year are Jucos, you would return upperclassmen (10 players) and probably have this problem solved. You could then try to focus on Freshman again.

I mean exceptional ones. The Taj Gray's and whatnot.

Each situation is different. I remember KS redshirted J. Detrick in '02-'03 because OU had depth at the wing spot, but greatly needed him in '03-'04.

Not saying this situation is applicable, just that sometimes it makes sense to RS a juco.

Detrick is what I thought of too. But even in Detrick and Johnny's case both those guys were almost pulled out of redshirt, wasting a year. Detrick didn't redshirt when he initially started playing at OU. Look at the last time we tried it with Patillo, who redshirted himself. Blake was forced to run him out of redshirt.

He's already RS

Your acting like Capel doesn't want Guerrero or Carter. But I am happy that Capel is not just going after those guys b/c its not like its a for sure thing that they will pick us. And I personally don't mind him going after Juco players. Sampson made a living off of it. Gray, Erdmann, Brewer, White, McGhee, Everett...etc... So did Sutton. Juco players play against better players. I'm all for it. At least these guys stats are pretty good...Thompsons were horrible. I like Washington...I bet we see a much improve Washington next year.

I know he wants them, but he's got to get them. We can't continue to be in scramble mode fighting over last minute juco and prep school kids every year.

You realize you can sign Juco's every year, right? It's not like we couldn't just replace outgoing juco's with incoming ones.

yeah that's my fear. It would be like ground hog day.

I wonder how it would fly if Bob Stoops signed a class of 75% juco kids each year?

He can't do more than sell his soul to the kid...

These juco kids don't seem like they are last minute. Thompson was a last minute. These kids are being sought after by a lot of top schools.
