"ive came to the point where I jus wanna go to school ... "

Who is Willie suppose to be taking minutes from?

Here is a list of guards that have played for the Clippers this season, that are better than Willie Warren:

Eric Gordon
Mo Williams
Baron Davis
Randy Foye
And IMO, Eric Bledsoe (though is one might be close)

They've been thin at guard in recent weeks, and Willie has played more. As people get healthy, he'll play less.

davis was traded

I tell you what I've noticed about WW. His on-ball defense looked outstanding the past few times I've seen him play.

I can't remember which game it was, maybe Boston, but one of their veteran backups tried to back WW down the other night and he went no where. WW stoned him. The guy looked shocked...:ez-roll:

Bledsoe is close, and Foye only gets the playing time because of seniority.
Foye is not a good outside shooter. He has a poor A/T ratio, and he has really poor rebounding numbers.

There is no doubt that Mo and Gordon should be getting playing time over Willie.
But Vinnie wouldn't even put him on the court with no Gordon, Davis, or Williams.

Its not hate...its just frustrating to hear this from TMG and WW when everyone was telling him this. The kids left for no money guaranteed. They were better than that. It hurt them financially and it hurt this program. Again...its not hate, its just frustration.

Exactly. It's not hate, it's concern. All three of the departees last year will not live as good of a life if they had chosen to stay in school.

Only players who should EVER abandon a free college education are those few, lucky talents that are guaranteed to sign a contract worth tens of millions after draft day that will take care of themselves and their families for life (unless they are gamblers, ie Antoine Walker, or chronic paternity suits, ie Shawn Kemp). If there is ANY doubt about getting drafted in the lottery (NBA) or 1st-2nd round (NFL), STAY IN SCHOOL.

SCHOOL IS EASY. Life outside of school, without an education, can be very hard. And no one is telling these kids that, getting it through their thick skulls, that if you think sitting in an English Literature class is boring, then try working a 10 hour shift in a service industry for little money where you're treated like nothing by customers and management alike...for YEARS...because that is where you're headed if you don't finish your degree and you don't make it in the NBA. And if you live that type of life, the temptation to make worse life decisions become more tangible--ie, alcohol and drugs.

The D League shuffle isn't worth it, particularly if you end up having to go back to school anyways after the NBA has decided you're not tall enough to play this game--this time on your own dime with "grown up" bills to pay and responsibilities to heed. 2-3 more years of school, nothing if you're out of the league before your original school plan would have ended if you stayed. Willie Warren wants to go into broadcasting--good. He'll need a degree, but now he'll have to pay for it...when he threw away the chance to earn it for free.

I have little patience for excuse making for bad personal decisions--its not good for the person's future, not good for society as a whole. "Some people aren't college material", EVERYONE is college material if they have the right damn attitude. Learning is easy, taking tests is easy, reading is easy, taking notes is easy...minimum wage is not.

I've long thought that college athletes should not only be allowed to work, but required to work during the summer. Work at McDonalds full time for 3 months. My guess is if a TMG had to work at McDs for a full summer before his freshman year, he would have sprinted to the administration office at OU and beg to be enrolled. Taking an "Art Appreciation" class en route to an accounting degree suddenly looks much more interesting...His attitude towards "skool" would change.

IF a guy becomes a pro athlete for even a season, the opportunities he creates for himself after sports are unbelievable!!! I respect old fashioned education, that's why I have 2 college degrees, but to sit here and act like WW will be begging for food because he left OU early is just crazy.

For one the guy can always return to school. Thousands of athletes return to school at some point, and many get that school payed for by corporations, and pro teams.

Guys who have played pro ball make connects with other athletes, business owners, etc and many have a free pass right into investments, jobs, etc without finishing school. The bottom line is that many are mad at WW because he chose to go early. Some are so hung up on college sports that we have fans HOPING that WW and Tiny, and of course TMG fail just so that they have their moment of I Told You So, or whatever you want to call it.

The guy vented some youthful frustration on a public website, and all of a sudden his life is going to Hades according to Sooner fans who can't just swallow the fact that he didn't listen to their advise.......

I just hope that the kid matures and that he finds success doing what he loves. There is no crime in playing ball for 5 -10 yrs and making good money, even if it isn't in the NBA the entire time.

WW is young and he's frustrated. Of course he's going to Tweet...duh.

He'll learn the way most of us learn, the hard way. He'll be fine.

This sums it up best. Most of us have already been there and done that. I hope WW has a long career in the league and in the mean time takes advantage of the programs OU has to complete his degree. Best course for him right now.
