I don't know a lot about Jon Rothstein other than he's on CBS from time to time. He's in Norman today and tweeted this:

@JonRothstein: Palpable buzz at Oklahoma regarding Jamuni McNeace. Showing significantly more polish on offense. Gives Sooners two-headed monster at C.

@JonRothstein: So much JaVale McGee in Jamuni McNeace....

More observations from Rothstein:

@JonRothstein: Biggest misnomer regarding Trae Young is that he's just a scorer. Has many different elements to his game. Extremely underrated passer.
@JonRothstein: The surprise here at Oklahoma? 6-9 freshman Brady Mannek. Great feel and IQ. Really knows how to play. Will be in Sooners' rotation.
@JonRothstein: Trae Young living up to his billing today. Passing, shooting, and scoring. Will form dynamic back court with Kameron McGusty. Explosive.
@JonRothstein: The coolest thing about basketball practice at Oklahoma? Every single one is open to the public. Place is packed on a Wednesday in August.

Not familiar with Aaron White but:

@JonRothstein: Oklahoma freshman Brady Mannek reminds me of former Iowa forward Aaron White. Super skilled and mature beyond his years. Remember the name.

Man, love all the love Manek is getting. Sounds like he may be a real player!

You need to read my posts more often. ;)

Seriously, I'm excited about this kid. I think he'll help us this season.

Rothstein does a really good job, travels in the summer all over giving tidbits on team practices. During the season he's a great read & follow on twitter.

VBDAD's post about Manek and Muni in the starting lineup from the other thread certainly is intriguing. Not that I don't think Doolittle is going to be a star. But 6-10, 6-9, 6-6, 6-5, 6-2 is some great size among the starters. Not sure if i've seen that kind of height at OU in awhile. I know Kruger is still experimenting. But great that guys like Manek are getting a shot. I was wondering about his physicality and rebounding but I heard Kruger say in a Hale interview that he was rebounding. Saturday will be interesting.

I had to look him up online. He played for Iowa, drafted in the second round by the Washington Wizards. He even links a little like Brady.

I like Rothstein! He's the hoops guru for CBS sports. Sure hope our players can live up to the praise he laid on them. If they do, it's going to be a fun season!

I remember a poster stating that Manek would hardly play and be a bench warmer his whole Sooner career. :facepalm (back when first committed)

He was probably the 2nd guy 4 years ago after Fran that said Buddy and Co. would be final four contenders in two years during their sophomore year. He isn't bias and tweets a TON about all schools. He is very kind to OU as well. I like him on Twitter.

Agreed

Lon is such a great team builder, and this sets up perfectly. We should be very good this year, and I expect a top 4 seed come March. But the next two seasons, assuming Trae sticks around, will be special, with the Final Four being legitimate options.
