Henry is on the local Fox station here in DFW and picked New Mexico. I know we weren't recruiting him, but since he is Skeeter's son thought some might want to know. Introduced his dad as "Skeeter Meter".

campbest>>>>Jarion Henry

He may be a tad more athletic.

UNM got a player, but if he makes it in ABQ until graduation/going to the draft on his own, I will be shocked. Everything I have heard points to him being a handfull. With that said, UNM just keeps reloading for the Mountain West, look out for them the next two years. With Gordon, Williams, McDonald, Henry, Hardemann, Tindall, the Aussie, Kirk, Adams, etc...they will be real nice.

Side note: one of my funniest moments in college involved meeting Skeeter Henry at a bar, conversation is definitely not board appropriate but I can see where Jarion gets some of his antics from.

not to go too far off topic, but ive really been wanting to see a game at the Pit for years now. i live in TX and go up to CO (via NM) a few times per year and just need to make it happen.

im not acting like it's the holy grail of hoops arenas (granted that i havent been to Cameron or Dean Dome...) but still something i've been wanting to do.

Most definitely. They just finished the remodeling job on the concourse this past season, so it got a much needed facelift. Like you said, it is no mecca of an arena, but definitely an awesome place to watch a game...especially if you can get BYU, Utah, San Diego State, UNLV in town. My favorite game was when Stanford rolled in and Casey Jacobson was coming off his All-American year, place was rocking.

New Mexico loves them some basketball, there were 13,000 in The Pit for the Class 4A high school championship game this year.

The game in which Skeeter played against the Lobos (December of '88) was also rather loud. Luckily, the right team won (OU).

Maybe someone can start another "Skeeter Meter" at NMU.

Unforutnately, the locals won't know who Skeeter was. Today's article about Jarion in the ABQ Journal was the first to mention that Skeeter is his dad, and where he played college ball.

An irony in the whole story of both Skeeter and Jarion is that OU wasn't inclined to re-up with UNM when that two-game contract ended after the '88-89 season, and it was because of how both the fans (coin-throwing) and media (cheap shots at Billy) acted that night.
