Anyone who thinks Kuath didn't improve while at OU wasn't paying attention (or is blinded by their antipathy toward Coach Kruger). McNeace also improved. His last season went off the rails, but not everything is the coach's fault.

To me, hiring Moser would be akin to hiring Army's football coach. He makes the option game work for him because these days, it's a gimmick offense, one their opponents almost never encounter. So he gets his guys to execute nearly flawlessly, beats the teams at Army's level and puts a scare into a few Power 5 teams.

But put that same coach in a Power 5 conference, and that approach wouldn't work (and he'd likely struggle to attract Power 5 level talent while running that offense).

I think you're oversimplifying the offense that Loyola ran, but you're not wrong in that it works well in a tourney setting because it's very difficult to defend without seeing it past a 1 game setting.

The double ball screens and rubs they run from the same sets to create easy looks or 1 on 1 matchups inside isn't rocket science and works. But over time against Big 12 length and athletes the familiarity just won't create those same looks over and over. You're going to need to be flexible and allow more freedom to succeed on this level imo.

I think the question is also can you recruit high level guys to play in an offense that's so schemed.

Can you please expand, Coach? Why wouldn’t his offense work in the big 12? It has been working pretty well in the tournament against other p5s. I would be worried about his ability to recruit but I think his coaching/player development would be about as good as we could hope for.
His offense was great until the defense sunk in, denied the high post offense and forced 3's. Then they had nothing.

They were a good 3-PT shooting team that had a terrible shooting day at the worst possible time. But I think another big question is, will he be willing and able to adjust his style if needed when he gets to a P5 conference. Some coaches never adapt, while others adjust year to year based on their personnel. Shaka is a guy who won playing one way with the kind of talent he had at VCU, and clearly never figured out how to successfully adapt to a totally different kind of roster and talent level at Texas.

Agreed. The question would/will be what sort of staff does he put together? Recruiters? Offensive minds? Defensive minds? Well rounded guys? I’m intrigued by the idea of Moser and what he can bring to OU.

They were outmatched in terms of talent. He got every ounce out of that bunch in 2 separate years. I’m guessing he can get better talent at ou and max it out too. That might be good enough for a final 4 team.

Haven't you heard? Final Fours don't count for much anymore.

This is a joke, right? You have a decade of experience to choose from, and somehow Kuath is who you pick to demonstrate he can develop bigs?

Would love for him to bring Quannas.

You say this as you discount Moser's Final Four run...

Oh for pete's sake -- I'm not discounting Moser's Final Four. I'm jabbing those who are discounting Kruger's.
