Jelon Hornbeak gets his second state title

Jelon plays on a loaded Arlington Prep team that also includes Baylor signee, 7' 2" Isiah Austin, Jordan Mickey and Emmanuel Mudiay, who are all high-major recruits. From everything I saw in the game I watched several weeks ago, Hornbeak is the glue guy, a guard who does everything well. It was obvious to me that his coach wants him on the floor in tough situations or when the game is close.

I believe his high basketball IQ and court savvy will bode well for him at OU. He may not start, but IMO he'll play quality minutes as a freshman.

Congrats on the state title, Jelon! :clap

Agreed. I also like recruiting kids that are used to winning, and two state titles is winning at a pretty high level. He won't want to come to OU and lose a bunch of games. Hield's team has won a lot too. I think at one point they were something like 20-5 on the year.

It should be noted that TAPPS is the private school association in the state and shouldn't be confused with UIL championships (the public schools)

Grace plays a top notch schedule and went 27-4. They beat South Oak Cliff, Dallas Madison, Mater Dei out of Cali, Fort Bend Travis and split with Prestonwood Christian. They also lost to Oak Hill Academy and Dallas Kimball. They beat FM Marcus last year.

And Houston Westbury was ranked #39 in the Powerade Fab 50 poll before last night's game.
