Bob P tweeted that the media have not been allowed to watch a single second of practice since September. That may or may not be the norm, and I certainly don’t think we’ll ever find another coach who has completely open practices. But this certainly fits with the image of Moser being uptight and borderline paranoid. Sounds like Lincoln Riley, minus the success.

Prolly cuz they arent practicing (kidding, i think..)

I guess I didn’t get It…. I sure wouldn’t have open practice.. at least not much. Maybe once every two weeks.

Does self? Dixon? Calipari? Sampson?

Kelvin had closed practices when he was at OU. That may be different now.

Lon Kruger is the only coach I can remember having open practices. Most coaches don’t have open practices except maybe a few times a year.

I’m not talking about allowing fans. I’m talking about completely banning media. Based on some of the in depth stuff I read from beat writers of other teams, I think their media members are given at least some access.

I def wouldn’t have the media… not defending moser… I’m about over him. Just saying, as a coach I would have very few.

I slipped into OU’s closed practice back in the Tubbs’ days.

About half way through practice Billy sent Tommy up to see who I was. I was in the top ring of LNC. I figured Tommy was going to escort me out. He introduced himself. We talked for a few minutes. He was a very cordial to me. I think he figured out I was harmless and didn’t say anything about leaving. He invited me down to meet his dad after practice. Again I thought the worse. Figured I would get a good cussing for being there. However Billy was extremely nice. We talked for about a minute. I left and never did that again! Hahahaha

I've posted before about the one time I got to attend a practice during Coach Kruger's tenure. I had a great time. It was very interesting to see how practices are conducted and it was a treat to get to meet Coach Kruger and some of the players (Buddy Hield, Ryan Spangler) who made it a point to come over and talk to me (I'm sure that was Coach Kruger's policy and not something they did on their own). I always admired and appreciated Coach Kruger's policy of open practices. That was a memorable afternoon for me and I had been local, I'd have attended more practices.

same experience every time i went to his open practices ..

i'm sure Kruger's personal policy (that applied to his ast coaches) of not using bad language makes it easier to have open practices ..
