I watched Athletes First vs BABC at the EYBL in Houston. Here's my observations on Doolittle.

-- reminded me of Ron Artest from a physical standpoint. Just cut up and looks much stronger than 99% of the players I saw over the weekend.

-- fundamentally sound- makes smart basketball plays.

-- not explosive; I noticed a few times there were loose balls and other guys got to them because he just didn't have quick leaps off the ground.

-- watched him last year and thought his motor was better last year. Not bad at all just average this year. Looked a little tentative at times.

-- good mid range shooter and finisher. Doesn't get in a hurry. Solid defender as well.

-- physically ready to compete in the Big12. Probably a role player first two years and potential impact player as upperclassman.

-- Athletes First lost the game, BABC had a guard (Bowen) that Athletes First could not keep off the foul line. He was able to draw contact down the stretch consistently and that ended up being the difference.

If you have questions about other OU targets I watched Houston Hoops; Team Texas; Pro Skills (Dallas); CIA Bounce; PSA; Arkansas Wings; Oakland Soldiers; Elfrid Payton Elite; St Louis (Tatum) and City Rocks. Would be glad to give you my input on other players.

Wow. I'm impressed. Appreciate the feedback.

The Houston Defenders weren't there for a Houston tournament? I think that's Kameron McGusty's team. I just wondered if he played in the tourney.

Thanks for the scouting report. I've heard he needs to increase his motor a bit.

Thanks DFW!

Did you see Payton Pritchard play? If so what were your impressions?

I saw him just briefly- he's playing on the Adidas circuit. I watched his team- Team Fast- in Duncanville at the Adidas Gauntlet back in April.

You will love him- motor is on "full speed" at all times. Has no fear. Scorer's mentality. Of course, what comes with that is forcing the action and questionable shot selection. But I would rather have that at my point guard position than tentativeness/fear. He's worthy of a top 50 ranking in my view.

Elfrid Payton is already sponsoring an AAU team?

yep- took over one of the Louisiana teams on the top Nike circuit. I like their team a lot- big guy that I think OU has offered- Gresham. 2016 kid- great prospect. 2017 forward- Rachal- that is a high basketball IQ skilled guy. And then a potential star (top 25 type talent) in Javonte Smart- 6-4 point guard that passes for a 2016 kid from a maturity/strength perspective.

Edit: I left off their 6-5 SG Jarreau. He didn't play much- injury. But I believe Arizona and Texas have offered him and he's a great shooter from the perimeter- around 50% from 3 in the EYBL play.

they are on the Under Armour circuit. Nike, Adidas and UA have their own events and the teams don't overlap much until Las Vegas in July.
