Kruger on Isaiah Cousins and potential two-sport players

Good article with three interesting topics:

On Isiah Cousins playing the point, I won't be at all surprised if he's logging nearly as many minutes as Sam Groom by the midway point of the season. He's a scorer who is big enough to create problems for opposing defenses off of the dribble. If Grooms has not improved his outside shot since last year, Cousins could be the answer to getting more production offensively from the point guard position, and eliminating the ridiculous double-down on other players because our PG can't make shots.

As for Simon and Tapper playing both sports. Do you really believe that is a possiblity, Lon? If so, I've got some beach front property just outside of town you may be interested in. Think about it. Ada is a little over an hour from Norman. You could take your family to the beach every weekend from early spring to late summer. The property is cheap, too, for beachfront property with a beautiful view of the ocean.

400 transfers since the end of the school year in April? That's an amazing stat!

Kruger probably knew exactly what he was getting with Grooms. Good enough to get Blair off the court. And buying some time until he got a better one.

Cousins is likely the better one. He is a freshman and all that. It may take alittle time for all that to work out. Grooms has been playing basketball all his life. This off season won't transform him into a good outside shooter. While I don't believe he is as bad as he performed last season, He is probably a 30-32% caliber shooter. That along with his niftyness at all other aspects of the point gauard position may be enough to enable him to hold on to the majority of the minutes.

But, like Ada, I'm predicting that Cousins will be a handfull for Grooms.

Totally agree with your take on Grooms. I don't see much wrong with his shot. I have a feeling that the slump he was in last year was more a loss of confidence than anything to do with technique or shooting motion. If he can raise his three point percentage to 30% plus next season, opponents would have to think twice about leaving him completely open from behind the arc.
If not, I believe we'll see a lot of Isiah Cousins.
