Kruger: "We're concerned more about WE than I" [ESPN]

Re: Lon Kruger's ESPN Chat Transcript

Don't miss this read guys. Lots of good/interesting stuff.

Re: Kruger: "We're concerned more about WE than I"

Excellent read, I loved the fact that all through the responses, he was more interested in talking about the "team" instead of individuals. Thanks for posting.

Re: Kruger: "We're concerned more about WE than I"

Coach, with the future of OU bball looking bright, has there been any talk of renovations to LNC or a new arena?
Lon Kruger (2:36 PM)

Haven't heard much conversation about a new arena. Lloyd Noble has some age to it, but is still a really good college venue. It was built in the mid-1970s. A lot of new arenas have been built since. Some conversations, but nothing of significance.

Oh well.

Bob Stoops (Switzer Center) Lon, If you had to pick one of my football players to play for you who would it be? And why?
Lon Kruger (2:37 PM)

A lot of very good athletes on the football team, I'm not familiar with their basketball abilities. We could use some more size, which I'm sure we could find on that football team.

This must have been htownsooner's question.

Re: Kruger: "We're concerned more about WE than I"

Great read...especially liked the part about "Hey, if your in the area come on out and meet the guys." I'm headed to CLK's office tomorrow to shoot the breeze!

Re: Kruger: "We're concerned more about WE than I"

Hard to believe that Coach Kruger has adapted so quickly to his surroundings and the people in Oklahoma. Fans seem to be very comfortable with him.

I love the "concerned more about we than I" quote! I think the players do, too, because they have bought into that philosophy from the moment LK arrived.

Thanks for posting, OUHoops!

Re: Kruger: "We're concerned more about WE than I"

I had hoped to see the guys play while I'm home for the holidays, but it's not working out. I'm leaving OKC on the 29th (when the team plays in Cincy). What would you guys say are my chances of visiting a practice on, say, the 27th or 28th? I don't know how they schedule stuff during the break between semesters.

Re: Kruger: "We're concerned more about WE than I"

I wish someone had asked him about M'baye. I doubt he would have said much but if he were to confirm M'baye is the best players on the team, that would be nice to read.

Re: Kruger: "We're concerned more about WE than I"

Crazy how things work out... A year ago our BBall team was in shambles and our football team as usual was riding high. Now the role reversals this year. Can Lon take over as our new DC ?

Re: Kruger: "We're concerned more about WE than I"

I wish that chat would have been about 3X as long. Seriously good stuff there.

Re: Kruger: "We're concerned more about WE than I"

Skyvue- Call the BBall offices. They can tell you when and where practice will be.

I don't get the fear with OU fans about the football team. If Jones returns, OU returns a senior QB, Stills, Reynolds, Jackson, and the 4 new receivers (that is a great group of receivers), Whaley, Finch and Clay (really good running backs), 8 of the top 10 linement (including 4 of 5 starters), Millard (great FB), Ripkowski and Possibly Musil (very good group of full bakcs. On defense OU returns 2 DE with expierence, both DT, 3 experienced linebacks and 3 or 4 experienced DBs.

I just don't see the shambles some fans seem to see. I wish OU had beaten Tech (and they should have). OU probably should have beaten Baylor too. OSU just might have a better offense, especially considering all of the injuries.

Re: Kruger: "We're concerned more about WE than I"

He was being really nice there. No bad words about anyone or even about play before he got there. He focused on the positive and the work that is being done currently, rather than the work that wasn't being done before.

Good guy!

Good way to find out practice times is to tweet Mike Houck on twitter. He usually responds pretty fast.
