No doubt Nova was clearly the superior team today but I cannot remember the last time OU missed that many wide open 3 pointers in a game. In the first 4 minutes of the second half OU had 7 or 8 offensive rebounds and only ended up with a hand full of points because they kept missing wide open 3'pointers. So frustrating.

Yeah, that was the key stretch right there. When we cut it to 12 and got the ball back and missed a 3 which would have cut it to 9. Then when we had that 6 rebound possession and didn't score or maybe after Woodard's 4 point play when it was 9 and we couldn't make a shot to get it to 6. Had we been able to string together a few 3's there I think we get some momentum and we get back in the game.

You could tell the momentum was wanting to swing and OU simply couldn't hit an open jumper. Sucks it happened in the final four.

Jerry Palm was tweeting during the game the biggest streak OU went on was 5-0. Just never could get stops to go on a big run like we've seen in other games. Then eventually it avalanched on us.

I'm still extremely proud.

I will admit, I'm tired of watching Sooners teams get punked on national TV but whoever played Villanova tonight was going to get punked. UNC or KU would get punked by a team shooting almost 80%.

Oklahoma's defense was adequate yesterday just like it has been the entire tournament. Villanova hit ridiculous shots time after time after time.

Some of that was bad defense. Nova had WIDE open looks for much of the 1st half. Better defense, they don't get as many open looks, and maybe the thing doesn't snowball and Nova doesn't get the confidence to shoot 70%. Our defensive plan and effort the 1st half was terrible.

A lot of it was bad defense. This was one of the worst defensive games we've played.
 
If you would have told me before the game that OU would have 19 offensive rebounds I would have predicted a double digit win for OU.
 
Nova's offense was almost magical. They could have closed their eyes and shot and it would have gone in.

I disagree.
I think that OU played decent defense.
Nova held a serious grudge from HI. I think that NC could blow them out tomorrow, because they have used up all of the lucky shots.

Got third of them on one possession and ZERO points. Ugh.
 
Nova did hit some ridiculous contested shots, but they had tons of layups as well. Not a good defensive effort, especially in the post. We got exposed downlow big time.

I agree in part with the defensive effort... I think it was Coach Crutch at halftime said we are doing a good job of taking plan A away from their offense but we just are not recovering on rebounds and the ability to take away plan b for Novas offense. Plus, we just missed some open shots and they didn't... And then as we all know it just snowballed. We hit 70% from the field we win. Just not our night and Nova had a big part in that.

Also, I agree they could get crushed tomorrow night. But if they play like that nobody beats them.
 
when you see somebody chewing something it is very hard and emotional for them to talk after getting beat that way. Nobody envies what he saw in the players eyes. He did a heck of a job!!!

Maybe part of their shooting had to do with our D. Sorry, our on ball D was suspect. We played off, helped on most drives. Nova did not. They were in our guys faces the second they caught a pass...
