Langham Creek vs Cypress Woods

Nancy had 8 points and 5 rebounds.

Reese had 26 points and 14 rebounds.

I don't understand.

Watching the box scores and from what I seen in last years title game (http://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/highschool/article/Cy-Woods-wins-6A-title-6121862.php) Nancy is not the go to person. This year has been Reese and last year was Erica Ogwumike 5' 10" forward (Pepperdine signee). Now whether this is due to everyone trying stop Nancy I don't know, but in last years title game Nancy was in foul trouble and Erica was the scoring machine as she was during the year. Catherine "Cat" Reese is a sophomore this year list 6' 3" and kind of hoping we would be looking at her, but not sure. I too have always wondered why when you have a 6' 9" player they are not the go to person. Hopefully it is just the way the coach choose to play.

I have also wondered about that, as I expect most of us have. It seems like with a player tat tall, you could just have her near the goal, toss her the ball, and score almost at will.

I think the fact that has not been the approach is why so many of us have not just proclaimed that she will be a game changer, but instead express it as "she may be a game changer".

Time will tell.

Spend about a month without thinking of Nancy scoring a basket. I don't think that is where she will impact the game. I suspect that she will score, probably easier in college than in HS. But, the effect of Nancy should be to take the lane away from the other team. When she is under the basket, people don't like to shoot over her. They throw up wild shots, hoping to draw a foul. But, she can block anything. The only thing that will keep her from being a game changer may be the officiating. She is so obvious at 6-9, and some officials, like in the state championships, call ridiculous fouls on her. But, she doesn't have to slap down at the ball. Her hands are pretty high up and difficult to shoot over. She is also mobile enough to block shots on opposite sides of the lane within a second.

Don't forget that in the midst of those who keep putting her down, there are scouts that wonder why she isn't being hailed as the next superstar. We'll see.

Reese is there work horse......with Richards being out the past 6 weeks Reese will probably be the mvp of the district

I agree, she is a workhouse. She averages 21 PPG and 13 RPG and, she's only a sophomore.

We need a player who plays with a high motor, out hustles everyone for rebounds, scores on offensive put backs, and can step out and shoot threes.

Any girl who is 6'9" in high school who is moderately skilled and coordinated; the biggest factor limiting her points has to be her own coach.

Reese is taller than 6'2" and she is quick, athletic, and skilled. She will be a great prospect

I wish we could sign her but I understand the chances of that happening are slim and none.

She's right at 6'2" because in the pic of her standing next to Richards you can see Richards is taller than her.

Reese reminds you of a Tim Duncan type of post. She loves to catch the ball in the post and face you up. She knocks the mid range down on a consistent basis and makes her lay ups and free throws.
