GAME 25 - OKLAHOMA (16-8) vs LSU (12-12) 5:00pm CST on SECNETWORK

Show me. Neither of you can
Do you really think we are in the top half of NIL spending in this conference?? Honest question. If so, who are we ahead of in your opinion? We lost out on SEVERAL players last portal season due to being outbid...a few of those players we lost to other SEC schools (Pedulla to Ol Miss & Garrison to Kentucky...both of those schools put out offers we couldn't match). We also lost Aaron Scott to SJ, who came in at the 24th hour with an offer he couldn't turn down...his sister plays at OU. Tech offered Overton much more than we could. No one is blaming all of this on NIL, but to think we are not in the bottom 1/3 in the SEC??? Come on. I saw a tweet recently that said our roster costed us $2.5MM, while the AVG in the SEC was between $4-4.5MM. The AVERAGE! I can't recall who tweeted it...maybe someone else saw the same? I will see if I can find it. But there are plenty of examples of us getting outbid. Fears was a special deal with him reclassifying at the last minute and we had some $'s to play with to get him here. Again, Porter is to blame for A LOT of what's happened this season and the past few, and it should cost him his job, but let's be honest...has hasn't been working with equal resources either. Both can be true.

Good questions. My source has been the former GM of the football program. His quote in regards to nil for the bball team has been: we have plenty of $$ to get good players. He didn’t get specific but said that if a competitive situation arose all PM had to do was present it and the funds were made available. Honestly I’m as confused as everyone else. With no reporting of definitive numbers who knows.

BUT for a coach who has, for 3 years, seen his starting center being abused in conference play and elected to keep him should bear some responsibility. Was our only choice to replace him Garrison? It seemed that way then we lost out and had no fall back. To me that goes on PM. Also he’s old school enough that maybe he doesn’t know how to play the game. You asked what I think our nil $ is? I think we are in the middle of the sec. BUT like you I have no clue as to the exact amount.

He didn’t get specific, but you want specifics from us? Toby has said many times that we’ve been competing against teams with much more NIL access than us. I have talked to people who have been involved in basketball NIL and I promise you we are way behind the teams we are competing against

Toby is great, but he is also a homer, like all team broadcasters. And where do you think he is getting his info? I’m sure lots of it is coming from mid major Moser, who obviously has a vested interest in getting people to think we are far behind every conference opponent when it comes to resources. Toby isn’t an investigate journalist with inside info on each school’s NIL.
