GAME 25 - OKLAHOMA (16-8) vs LSU (12-12) 5:00pm CST on SECNETWORK

He could go coach a mid-major for $100,000 next year and we'd be paying him the difference (a much bigger amount).
I think Charlie Strong had a buyout where the offset went down $1 for every $2 earned. I suppose to incentivize him to get a higher paying job after being fired. I always thought that was a pretty good idea to avoid a guy for working for peanuts at the next job on purpose.

Semantics....we are going to debate the levels of cheating?

Kelvins was enough to get a show cause. He was a blatant REPEAT cheater. Not as egregious as Wade but willing to repeat it.

Not to mention, some people would say Wade getting guys $$$ isn't much different than NIL. I don't agree..I think he's a snake.

My point is more that he is willing to overlook rules. Doesn't matter if they are legal now, etc.

Read it for what it is..
Not what you want to hear. Your moral compass vs mine doesn't really matter.

Like I said...Bob Stoops oversaw Pastagate. Rules are rules, right?

Yea...some rules get your kid suspended until he pays it back. Some get you a show-cause penalty. But we'll try to use those as examples. And one didn't happen over 900 times and repeated after the initial punishment. But you keep comparing.

Donors were pissed after the football season, and 1 coaching change happened, due to poor performance. Alley left on his own, and BV fumbled that, as well. So I don't think the donors care.

Can confirm, BMD wanted Seth L fired the week before. It was supposed to happen. Joe and BV gave him another week, against donor wishes.

But I know that to be true at least, midseason.

I don't have any insider stuff other than that.

Joe c is way more involved with the failure of football than basketball, so there is less movement there bc hes staking himself on football imo. If the story of what supposedly happened with thad turnipseed ever gets out it'll be a crazy day
I'd be interested in knowing all of that story, too.

Ironically, Thad Turnipseed is the guy we need. He raises money and gets projects done. In the pre-NIL era, he was all about building buildings at Alabama and Clemson. Not sure how his skill set would transfer to the NIL era, but he gets stuff done.

The BMDs and Joe C thought he was full of it.

Stop blaming it on NIL. If we beat Texas, A&M, and LSU (all coaching failures), we’d be in the driver’s seat.
The driver’s seat to merely making the tournament. I want more than that…I wanna be up there with schools like Bama and Auburn. There’s no reason we shouldn’t be, but that will take more NIL than we currently spend. That’s what I was referring to.

THis is the way it should be. Don't want BMD dictating these things. Or we end up like texas

I get your point, but Texas is whooping OU’s butt in basketball and football.
I'm talking strictly football here as it is the big driver.

UT is only kicking OU's butt in the very near term. And I imagine a large part of that is UT letting sark run things the way he wants and gives him the support he needs.

That's exactly right.

For years, UT's BMDs interfered with the football program. Mack Brown was successful because he could handle them. Coaches like John Mackovic, Charlie Strong, and Tom Herman couldn't.

UT hired a strong athletic director in Chris Del Conte. He then hired Sark, who has turned out to be a pretty good coach. UT is now letting the donors donate, the admins administrate, and the coaches coach. It helps that they have enough $ to pay all the players they want in this era.

In most instances I agree...except when you go from a Top-15 offense to a bottom-10 offense. I think the BMDs are completely in their right to demand a firing after some of the worst offense we have seen since John Blake;s crew.
