If someone offers him 500k more to defect we’ll see how loyal he is. Money talks and these guys are pros now.
if kansas pays forsythe $500k more......they're in bigger trouble than we are..

It was just an example. My point is we have no idea what our roster will look like next year. Especially in this new paradigm of big money and unlimited transfers.if kansas pays forsythe $500k more......they're in bigger trouble than we are..

They came after them last year.i don't think anyone will be coming after our players.
They came after them last year.
Fears?
Well Auburn supposedly wanted and thought they had Miles last offseason. Perhaps a good team with a good coach could use him as a key role player. Plenty of teams would probably be interested in Forsythe.uzan/oweh were talented underclassmen....
we don't have anyone on the roster this year that will draw interest from top programs like houston/kentucky....or really any good programs
Mict keeping it real. but WE'RE the crazy ones..I can’t believe anyone is defending the last play, as if there’s nothing a good coach could do? That’s insane. Everyone on both sides knew Oweh was going to do that. Yet, instead of pressuring him to come back to the ball and waste more time…instead of doubling him and forcing the ball to someone else…we just stood at half court and watched him dribble right by us for a 2 foot shot. That was not good defense. It was not a good plan. It was total crap from start to finish. Absolutely terrible from moser on down.
Warning- long breakdown as I've watched it on replay more than once and even broke it down frame by frame. yeah, a glutton for pain.I can’t believe anyone is defending the last play, as if there’s nothing a good coach could do? KU has their own issues. Talk about doing less with More. They are a $hit show this year. Average team at best...with all that talent.if kansas pays forsythe $500k more......they're in bigger trouble than we are..
Stop with the “he was holding him!” That was a weak screen at best and zero effort by Goodine to get free. It’s also stupid to have 4 guys at halfcourt in no man’s land. It was so easy for Oweh to fly right by all of them. And with no rim protection in the game it was all over once he got by all our guys picking their noses in the middle of the court.Warning- long breakdown as I've watched it on replay more than once and even broke it down frame by frame. yeah, a glutton for pain.
The concept of the defense wasn't as bad as I thought it was live. The defensive set looked like a 1-2-1 matchup trap halfcourt zone with Taylor basically faceguarding Koby Brea (#4). I believe Noah (#9) threw the ball in and Chandler (#5) was setting the back screen for Oweh to peel off of and receive the inbound. Brea spotted up in the opposite corner from Oweh's curl. Conceptually, OU in good shape on the inbound.
Where it broke down was the execution.
Goodine gets picked off, grabbed, held, and pulled on the arm at 2/3 court by Carr (#7) and can't execute the half court trap on Oweh, leaving him going downhill at Elvis. Fears does a good job and picks up Chandler coming up the court and Taylor is playing excellent pressure D on Brea. Moore picks up Carr as he comes up the court after not being flagged 10 yds for holding.
And this is where it goes south. Goodine slides back in position anticipating Kobe funneling him back to the middle of the court. Instead, Kobe, for some reason, pushes him to the sideline and in trying to avoid the foul, stands straight up and gives him an angle to the baseline. Goodine is caught flat footed and now has to scramble, late, to try to cut off the baseline and path to the basket. Jalon, in trying to avoid a foul, jumps at him but doesn't make a play on the ball and floats past him out of bounds. As a result, Oweh has a really clean look right at the rim, albeit at a tough angle to lay it in. We know the rest.
Bottom line, the play is disrupted by the hold on Goodine, and then Kobe plays terrible conceptual defense and gives the angle to the baseline. Goodine can't recover and Elvis played it terribly and the team defense blows up. Fears and Taylor did their job very well. Moore did okay stopping Carr, but should have made a better attempt on the shot. In reality, the defensive design got blown up by a missed call but more importantly by one guy not doing his part.
Is that coaching? Possibly. Maybe Duke should have been on the floor instead of Goodine or Kobe. Maybe, probably, should have face-guarded Oweh on the inbound. But we were playing a 1-2-1 matchup half court zone defense. Most definitely should have immediately doubled on the catch, before he gets any steam to go downhill.
Could we have drawn it up a little differently, or had a different personnel? Absolutely. But was it the design or the execution at fault? After watching the replay enough to give me depression, IMO, the real problem was the execution. If executed properly, Oweh runs out of time to get to the rim or has to pass. Either way a rushed jumpshot.
It just hurts worse because we had come back so hard only to be stung once again at the end. And maybe the collective story once again IS coaching.
Also Goodine should not have been in the game. He’s probably the worst defender in the SEC.Stop with the “he was holding him!” That was a weak screen at best and zero effort by Goodine to get free. They have one fewer NBA player than we do. Their backup big is the only guy on their roster with even a chance to play in the NBA, and he is a freshman who started playing four years ago. Don’t get me wrong, they have underachieved, but to act like they have a team of stars is silly.KU has their own issues. Talk about doing less with More. They are a $hit show this year. They were the ****ing pre-season #1. We were picked to finish 15th in the conference. One is not remotely close to the other...yet on a neutral court, we'd probably give them everything they wanted right now. You always gotta play the ****ing devil's advocate, dont you. They have one fewer NBA player than we do. He literally had his arm around his chest and other arm around his back. Then as Goodine broke free, he pulled his arm.Stop with the “he was holding him!” That was a weak screen at best and zero effort by Goodine to get free. So am I.. hoping to win 1-2…Dude, I've already said I was fine with a coaching change..right after the LSU game. WHere have I posted to "Save Porter's job"??!! I haven't. I just don't constantly bitch and moan over him after anything that goes wrong. B-ball games have 1000 different things that occur during a game that determine the outcome, it's never ONE play that causes a win or loss. Could we have defended that last play better? Absolutely!! But I look at it more from a perspective of we were down what 12 points with a couple of mins left and came back and took the lead. Was that great coaching, Or was that only because of the players? Fears was 2-11 from 3,,if he just hits ONE more of those, that last play doesn't happen like that. Garrison plowed into our defender and should have been a charge...instead he gets 2 points out of it. THere are many other things that happened that you could say if only this or that happened. Whatever happens happens. If we make a coaching change, I'll fully support the new guy. But we are about to make the tourney for the first time in a bit...so I am choosing to look at this team from a positive perspective!! Lets see who we play and go from there. The SEC is the best conference in America this year...by far!! So I am looking forward to playing some other teams.
We should all be joyous! Three weeks ago...NONE of us even thought the tourney was a realistic goal.
