There’s zero chance we’re bringing Moser back after the 4th season of absolute mediocrity in a row. None.Joe C is abnormally stubborn, and has, on top of that, become senile. Think Jerry Jones-level. Everything he touches turns to crap now. He extended BV after 1 6-7 year and a 10-3 year, then he goes out and sucks again. Now we can't pay his buyout. Same with PM.
If you think OU will be moving on from PM, I have some oceanfront property in Iowa to sell you.
We’ll see. There’s zero chance we’re bringing Moser back after the 4th season of absolute mediocrity in a row. None.
It’s not even four years of mediocrity! First year: mediocre but not horrible. Had some good wins. There’s zero chance we’re bringing Moser back after the 4th season of absolute mediocrity in a row. None.
Meh. Everyone was doing it. Kelvin was just bad at hiding it.Semantics....we are going to debate the levels of cheating?
Kelvins was enough to get a show cause. He was a blatant REPEAT cheater. Not as egregious as Wade but willing to repeat it.
Not to mention, some people would say Wade getting guys $$$ isn't much different than NIL. I don't agree..I think he's a snake.
My point is more that he is willing to overlook rules. Doesn't matter if they are legal now, etc.
Read it for what it is..
Not what you want to hear. Your moral compass vs mine doesn't really matter.
Part of the reason our 3s are so bad is that our attempts aren't normally in the flow of offense and/or wide open as a result of good ball movement bc we don't really run an offense..Yeah, I had to watch the game delayed yesterday, so didn't finish it until about 10:30PM. I could NOT believe we lost the game being up 5 with 30 secs left. And tbh, it shouldn't have even been that close at the end for it to even happen. We outrebounded them 43-28. Out shot them at the FT line 81% to 57% with each team getting about the same attempts at 30+. Only had 1 more TO than them (10 vs. 9), yet lost. We were flippin 3-18 from the 3 pt line (17%), while they were 11-28 (39%). Going into this game, OU was shooting 37% as a team from 3, while they were shooting 30% as a team.
It just seems like this team is cursed. I am there, it's time to make a coaching change...I can no longer argue that, but ffs, the players also have to make shots. If we simply shoot our season average, which at home you should shoot even better, that's another 12 points. If they shoot their avg, that's 9 less points. I realize it doesn't work that way and they could simply get the rebounds on misses and still put up points, but you get the point. You CANNOT only make 3 of 18 at home and expect to win. Shoot your average and it's a double-digit OU win easily. But we didn't do that, and it put our best player in a position tonight where he made two terrible mistakes. Everything that could have gone wrong, did go wrong in that final 30 secs. That's the mental aspect. You would think college players who have played the game their whole life would know how to handle the situations in that last half min w/o even needing coaching. You NEVER foul the flippin 3 pt shooter. In the end, the coach is going to get the blame for that, when it's happened multiple times. That's just the way it works.
Having said that, I am not 100% sure Joe will still pull the trigger. I think he will, but $ is $ and I don't feel we have tons of excess $'s laying around for a buyout. We will find out soon. If he is fired, I truly hope that we make the right decision this time and that new coach has the resources to be successful. If that part doesn't change, don't expect tons of consistent improvement.
I thought the same but donors are pissed.. honestly, it might be best if he doesn't fire pm and we simply run out the contract to no buy out and go 15-14 next year and maybe we get a triple kill shot of firing Joe c, pm, and bv (if he bombs this next year too)Joe C is abnormally stubborn, and has, on top of that, become senile. You think the university will wait through another year of humiliation? It would be different if our losses weren’t so embarrassing.I thought the same but donors are pissed.. honestly, it might be best if he doesn't fire pm and we simply run out the contract to no buy out and go 15-14 next year and maybe we get a triple kill shot of firing Joe c, pm, and bv (if he bombs this next year too)
It's a very real possibility. You can't just fire people without having money lined up (i guess we could make him sue us but that hurts future coaching prospects with our damaged reputation). Fingers crossed tho.You think the university will wait through another year of humiliation? It would be different if our losses weren’t so embarrassing.
5 or 6 million seems like a trivial sum for big time college athletics. We’ll see I guess. It's a very real possibility. Not when you have a brand new category of unregulated and uncapped expense in player salaries5 or 6 million seems like a trivial sum for big time college athletics. We’ll see I guess.
If we had a bunch of extra $, maybe they would have spent it on NIL and we wouldn't be in this shape. We spent about $2.5MM on our roster, while the AVG in the SEC was between $4-5MM. You get what you pay for sometimes.5 or 6 million seems like a trivial sum for big time college athletics. We’ll see I guess.
If donors are pissed, as HoopsAustin says, they might give enough to get rid of CW.If we had a bunch of extra $, maybe they would have spent it on NIL and we wouldn't be in this shape. Also, we would be a lot better with competent coachingIf we had a bunch of extra $, maybe they would have spent it on NIL and we wouldn't be in this shape. We spent about $2.5MM on our roster, while the AVG in the SEC was between $4-5MM. You get what you pay for sometimes.
Screwing up a basketball hire won't cost Joe C. his job. Screwing up a football hire will.I thought the same but donors are pissed.. honestly, it might be best if he doesn't fire pm and we simply run out the contract to no buy out and go 15-14 next year and maybe we get a triple kill shot of firing Joe c, pm, and bv (if he bombs this next year too)
To an extent. If we are continuously in the bottom 3 in NIL spending, we won’t consistently make the tournament. I wish this wasn’t the case. Also, we would be a lot better with competent coaching
Again, we are NOT in the bottom 1/3 in nil spending. If we are its PM’s fault. The $$ are there. To an extent. If we are continuously in the bottom 3 in NIL spending, we won’t consistently make the tournament. I wish this wasn’t the case.
