Really surprised at the number of players Moser played last night.

Unexpected solid contributions from Izzy and Cortes. Nolan was pretty good, needed more minutes. Probably most disappointed in J Groves who struggled a bit.

Unsung hero for me was Hill. 12 points, 5 boards, 2 assists - no TOs - and was 4-4 from the field and 5-6 from the line.

Great balance - all five starters in double figures. Impressive, but when T Groves was out of the game, the offense seemed to struggle. Chag may not be the answer at the backup 5. Going to important that TG stays away from foul trouble as the competition picks up.

Hill has played great. He doesn't know quite what he's got yet, but if he ratchets his aggression up offensively, he could be a difference maker.

Starters have played well. Everyone else has had ups and downs. I think Cortes and Mason will both continue to play all year. They bring different things to the court.

Cortes is probably the best pure point we have on the team. He's going to be a good one once he learns to defend consistently at this level.

Gotta get better. I thought we were in trouble when Groves went out. We take alot of wild low

I thought Moser's post game comments hit the nail on the head. Need to grow and get better across the board. Too many turnovers in the first half. East Carolina much better than people think and their length bothered them in a lot of ways. And, he thought the game would be a good learning experience, particularly because they needed to feel and experience a close ball game.

As for the players, I think McClure correctly identified Cortes as crafty. I have been searching for an apt description. That is exactly what he is. He looked like a freshman some, but I like the kid and think he is going to be a good player. Maybe better than what any of us could have imagined.

Big Rick. his improvement since last year is astonishing.

Thought Tanner had a tough game, but still think he will be our best player. By the end of the year, I think Jacob will have a bigger role than last night. Like that kid as well.

Jalen was terrific and that may have been his best game at OU to date.

I hope you are correct about JG. He is sort of a tweener, which can be good or bad. Who will he guard? Quick, stretch 4s may give him problems and bigger, posting 4s may be too strong for him. I actually thought he would be better offensively, but we are just at game 3 after a big jump in competition.

Cortes looks a little slow to me and I worry about length and ball pressure, but his court vision is excellent and he knows how to make basketball plays. What about a young Quannas White comp.....could he be that good in a couple of years?

"crafty" means white and non athletic for most. I dont like the term.

Bijan is an athlete. Probably the best passer and creator for teammates on the team.

Sat 2 weeks for Ankle injury. Gotta believe he'll get better and better with more time and health.

Man, Q was just about as good a pure point guard as you’ll find. Almost never made mistakes, ran the offense extremely well, didn’t force shots but was more than capable of hitting shots when available and needed. He also was a fantastic defender. If Cortes is anywhere near his level, I’ll be thrilled, but I don’t see a ton of similarities in their styles just yet. All that said, I really like Cortes and think he is going to help us this year, and be a huge piece in the future.

OU beats IU with a healthy Quannas White, that still stings...

J. Groves just does not look like a Big 12 player to me.. Been saying it from the get go. He's worse than Manek for sure. Cortes I really like, but this year will be a major struggle for him on the defensive end I believe as well. Get bigger stronger and quicker over the next year or two and he will be real nice. Big Rick impressed.. SMU hasn't done much for me yet either.

Love that dunk, but he was about the tallest guy on the floor. I am super excited about his potential, but don't expect to see this very often - hope I am wrong :) I agree "crafty" is rarely said about a black player. I like Mason too, so those two in the backcourt and Nolan on the wing should be something OU can build around moving forward.

Cortes is going to be a player. Mason is also good. Bijan reminds me of a shorter Giddey with The Thunder.
Hill played great. He might be the best rebounder on the team.

Just a reminder. "crafty" LAZY word.

For some maybe but I thought D. J. Augustin Jr. and CP3 were some of the most crafty players ever. Even Harden, so that’s a little insecurity leaking out from my perspective (which is a white guy).

I would label Mason more crafty than Cortes…
