How many ships?
What do we need?
Who is available?

If our punishment is a one year postseason ban, so be it. I'd rather it be that than losing 2 scholarships, given our current roster. I have to assume Joe C has an idea what's coming, and yet Lon Kruger agreed. Great hire at this point.

We need a point guard and we want a lot more. We have 2 to give, right? If you have to make room for new players, Hardrick would be my 1st choice not a senior to be like Thompson.

Maybe Kruger can make a player out of Thompson in the offseason.

I'd like to see someone write up LK's recruiting triumphs because the Florida kids were Sloan's before the NCAA bashed him and the Illinois kids were essentially locals that were his as long as he didn't screw it up...and the ones he recruited after that group yielded a 13-18 (or something like that) record before he left (they were excellent later though for Self).

I am sure after 7 years he had recruiting success at UNLV but it would be nice to see it in black and white.

Me thinks you should go back and look at his KSU teams as well...they were really good.

I remember those teams. Mitch Richmond is still one of my all time faves. I don't know who recruited who on those though.

Well...he is the only Big 10 coach to ever sign the Illinois POY 3 consecutive years.

Henson couldn't do that, and neither did Self or Weber.

If you are expecting Kruger to come in and outrecruit KU, Kentucky, and UNC, then you are going to be let down. If you are expecting him to find some diamonds in the rough and get some good solid college players and coach them up with a chance to beat KU every time we play, then you will be satisfied. I fall into this camp.

It's just not realistic for anybody to think we can hire somebody who's going to outrecruit KU, UK, and UNC. KU doesn't outrecruit us in football, even after their Orange Bowl game, we still landed the top players in Kansas.

Bob you're trying to get a LOT of mileage out of that stat, but it was much more circumstance than anything else.

3 Peoria kids (one POY) sitting there wanting to go to Illinois as long as no one screwed up their recruiting. Wrapping them up was essential and they used Rob Judson to do so (Wayne McClain admits so to this day).

Just because recruiting happens on someones' watch doesnt mean they did it.
