Capel's a more proven coach than 3/4s of these yoyos.
If these are our options, bring in Geno. Program's already collapsed, why not swing for the fence. Geno would either be a bust and keep us in the toilet (ie, no change in current status), or he would be a grand slam. He's a proven leader and manager, knows how to coach his way through a championship.
OU will never be a basketball school until after its won a national title. You can same thing about Purdue, Texas, Illinois...None of these coaches, except for Tubby Smith (who is way past his prime), has national title cred. We can go after a Mark Turgeon type of coach who can take us to the tourney every year but never get past the first weekend, but we'll be stuck in the same mire of the past, just only knee deep in it instead of neck deep.
Swing for the fences, we have to leapfrog other programs, not catch up to them.
