Wow not sure I've ever seen a 1 seed get shafted that hard by the committee. Kentucky in round 2, Louisville in the sweet 16.

I wouldn't call it shafted, but we're about to find out just how "legit" they are.

I would most certainly call it shafted. That is a nightmare region.

The point of seeding is supposed to reward you with a slightly less difficult path. When your second and third round matchups are teams that are underseeded in the opinion of most, you got shafted. Like the committee pretty cleraly scheduled the thing with the idea of them losing in the second round, setting up a dream ratings matchup of UK/Louisville.

They were the 3rd #1 seed. They should be in one of the more difficult regions based on that.

Some of you are letting your opinions of teams get in the way of reality.

well, I think Louisville would have been a tough draw for anyone ... but personally I am not that impressed with Kentucky this year and if you have a halfway decent set of guards you can own Kentucky.

When the teams you are set to play are pretty cclearly underseeded, then no, you aren't letting your opinion of teams getting in your way. That is getting the shaft. They have a lineup much closer to what a 3 seed would expect.

Oh, I can think of a #1 that got a similar shaft - you may have heard of this school - Oklahoma...in 1990. Our reward for being #1 in the polls going into the Tournament was to having to play North Carolina in Round Two...a team loaded with future NBA players and 1st round draft picks (we had neither). NC had under-achieved to get that low seed, but all they needed to do was play to their potential (and they did). Had we gotten by them, we would have had a tough time with the #4 seed in Arkansas with their talented backcourt of Todd Day and Lee Mayberry (that's the team who came out of that region).
