Lon's Best Team?

Harmon is definitely on par with Woodard. Very similar players. Woodard was a great 3 point shooter that year, but it had a lot to do with Buddy. Everyone was willing to let Woodard shoot open 3s instead of Buddy, and he cashed in. Harmon is a better defender, but Woodard had him on offensive production that year.

Reaves is a much better player than Cousins and Woodard. Better scorer, better facilitator, better rebounder, and equal defender to Cousins.

Cousins was a better shooter...but otherwise, Reaves is a superior player.

Cousins was a great defender ... not that Austin is bad on that end, but Cousins definitely has him beat there. He also did a great job as the point guard his senior year. They are very different players, I’m just glad both were/are Sooners!!

i love reaves and he is for sure a better player than cousins ..

but cousins is light years ahead of reaves as a defender ..

I’m going to rate imo 1-8 players from each team & give a * by the player I believe is/was better.

1. Hield * 1. Reaves
2. Cousins * 2. Harmon
3. Spangler * 3. Harkless
4. Woodard * 4. Manek
5. Lattin 5. Gibson *
6. Buford 6. Williams *
7. Walker 7. Hill *
8. James 8. Kur *

3 & 4 were close but none of the rest were imo. I’d say 15-16 team wins 80-72.

Agree with everything but on the AR/ Cousins talk. AR’s a better facilitator & rebounder slightly. Cousins better shooter, AR better scorer. Cousins is by far the better defender. Cousins was drafted in the 2nd round, but I’d say AR is slightly better in college.

this is close but for that team and this OU team Manek is a better player than jordan ..

This team plays defense and with toughness like no other team Lon has had @ OU but the Buddy squad would run this group out of the gym. I love both though, Buddy just was that good.

The 2016 squad had its share of close calls and losses. They won by 2 over unranked teams in Baton Rouge and Stillwater. They lost at Ames. They beat #19 Baylor by 2 in Norman. They lost to #25 texas in austin by 13 (and beat them by just 3 in Norman). They lost to unranked Tech in Lubbock. They lost to unranked KSU by 11 in Manhattan. They beat Hawaii by 3.

I love that 2016 team, don't get me wrong, but unbeatable they were not, and whether they'd run this team out of the gym is definitely up for debate.
