Manyang Full Practice

Great news! Let's hope he's ready to play this time.

Did he play or warm up ?

Neither. He didn't travel with the team. I'm hoping he might be ready by the time we play Wisconsin. He hasn't been practicing or running, and probably isn't in great shape.

The basketball shape part is what worries me. I am expecting the worst (he won't contribute much anytime soon) but hoping for the best! :D

OU could have used him in the first half. Even if he is the fifth forward, I want him to play after watching the Memphis game.

we'll need him because our other post guys aren't very good.

For as much talk as Lattin and Mcnease have gotten they were pretty mediocre (at best).

Buford had a nice effort but he is a stretch 4 and will get exposed vs better teams. I see Buford as Spangler's replacement

Fixed that for you.

A little early to proclaim those young players as "not very good," don't you think?

Come on man be serious. Lattin (I guarantee he'll turn it around) and McNease will be good for us this year, our issue is we need more depth and some real length inside with some athleticism against teams with inside talent like Memphis.

Where do I begin?

How about by asking you to show us where Lattin and McNeace have been hyped as can't miss stars this season? Everything I have read, and said myself for that matter, focused mostly on a bright future, not what they will be expected to do this season.

As for Buford, well of course he will get exposed at some point of the season. He's a redshirt freshman who wasn't even allowed to workout with the team until the second semester. How many first year players can you name who don't play like freshman sometimes, especially early on?

One game into the season is a little early to give up on these kids, don't you think?

There has been a lot of conversation about what Manyang will bring to the table, but if all he can do is guard other 7 footers man up, that will be a win for us with regards to match-ups. Now, if he can rim protect, rebound, and clean up garbage buckets, we'll be a top 5 team before too long.

I doubt Kruger goes much zone, but as we get into conference and bench minutes are minimized, could see some zone with Manyang to protect the rim and save the legs of Hield/Cousins/Woodard. It's just another option to toy with
