Manyang

Don't show it in practice, don't get into the game. All the great teachers ALWAYS say, practice the way you want to play.

But he was in the beginning of the year??

Exactly. In the very beginning both McNeace and Manyang played. Then the minutes went to Manyang and now they seem to be going to McNeace.

I like McNeace. He seems very athletic and I think he is going to be a good player if he puts in the work but I thought Manyang might turn into a guy that could give some solid minutes by this time.

Manyang will be fine. I am thinking he will be the most improved player by the time he's a SR.

He will put in the work, he won't let Longar down.

Next years team is going to be fun to watch develop as the year goes by.

Lon at his finest.

I don't think he is 100% healthy. Yes, he may have healed from the foot injury, but it may take time to get mentally healed. He needs the confidence in his body, so that he isn't hesitant.

Good point. AK doesn't appear to be sure of himself sometimes. I don't have a clue if it's physical or mental or both, but he definitely needs to be more confident of his ability to make plays.

I also don't think he was ready to compete at a high level this season. In retrospect, a redshirt season might have been the best option for him. Hindsight is 20-20 as they say.

I dunno if he still hurt or not but right now his feet are like a Russian heavyweight boxer.
And I'm sure the game is much quicker than what he has played before coming here.

But he was in the beginning of the year??

The coaches thought he was better than McNease RIGHT NOW to be playing ahead of him. Clearly, they've seen that the light hasn't turned on for Manyang. He repeatedly doesn't block out. Now they feel that McNease is either just as good, or slightly behind Manyang but with more upside.

Also, McNease might be working harder in practice. That's stuff the coaches care about.

An absolute disaster not redshirting this guy. At least would have given him a chance.

His overall defense is lacking. He can block/alter a few shots, but he's way out of his depth when he's asked to show or hedge. He made one of, if not the, worst attempts I've ever seen at pick and roll defense in the second half in Stillwater and was banished to the bench almost immediately.

When he goes for the hero block our back end is wide open. He rarely looks to block out.

On offense, when he gets the ball that's it. It goes in, never comes out. That drives the coaching staff bananas.

Chance taken, lesson learned. I look forward to him improving. McNease has a whole lot more athletic ability, and his basketball skills will catch up. Future eligibility between the two probably also plays a big role in the PT divvied.

He got hurt, got behind, and isn't going to catch up this year. Wouldn't write him off.

totally agree, would add, his offensive skills are lacking for this level. Not writing him off, but it'll take a lot of work this summer for him to "catch-up"...maybe redshirt him next year?
