Manyangs attitude

Thinking someone may transfer at season's end has more to do with human nature than fans being cynical. We've lost someone through attrition almost every year since the '80s. If we start with the Billy Tubbs era in 1980, I would guess we've lost 40-45 players through transferring, getting booted or becoming academically ineligible in the previous 35 years. As a result, we're probably conditioned to believe someone will leave this year as well. Who do you look for? Well, someone who doesn't appear to be happy would be a reasonable start. I hope it all works out at OU for Manyang. Like others have pointed out, his lack of a "rah rah" attitude may very well just be his demeanor...no big deal...we'll find out for sure at season's end.

Manyang can't really transfer because he's already a junior. 30+ frontcourt minutes are opening up next year with Ryan leaving. I'd expect Manyang to fill some of those.

And I'm really not sure we lose anyone to a transfer. 113 of a possible 200 mpg are not returning next year. That's a lot of minutes available for the young guys on the bench. After next year when we see where the chips fall with Odomes, Buford, James, McGusty, Doolittle, Grandstaff and Strong we may see a guy or two leave, but next year is a great opportunity for everyone on the roster currently to earn some playing time. Jamuni is the only guy I could see leaving after this year.

Jamuni has already redshirted though so if he transfers he has to lose a year of eligibility.

Not if he goes to a juco.

I don't see why you would go JUCO if you are on a Power 5 team and not kicked off. Plus his clock to play 4 in 5 wont pause if he goes to JUCO so he still loses a year

No he doesn't. He could play for a juco next season, and then transfer to a D1 school and play his last 2 years. It's the only way he could ultimately transfer to a D1 school and not have to redshirt next season.

If we're judging a player's likelihood of transferring based solely on sideline demeanor, then McNease might never leave OU. That dude is having a blast.

He redshirted here last year though. Already used it so he can go juco next year, and still only have 2 years left or transfer, sit a year while learning that schools system and have two years left, or stay here and play 3 years.

And for the record I hope he stays I still think he has a lot of upside and can be a good player as a Jr and Sr.

It must be discouraging to be a j.c. transfer with limited time to make an NBA impression and then get hurt. I can think of no worse place for a big man to be hurt than his feet. If he is down, then it should be no surprise. I like the guy . I wish Kruger would position him on the arc under the basket and leave him there. Maybe that would discourage the drives to the basket that everyone seems to be able to do against us.

working with kids from Africa...like they actually have LIVED there...lol...anyways, most are very quiet.

Unfortunately I don't agree about his talent....which is understandable, I believe he hasn't been playing bball since he was a kid...right?

I think his footwork and post moves are not that great. He rarely goes hard to the bucket...doesn't have a sky-hook...I'll pull for him, but I think it just more about talent, "smoothness", than attitude.

he moved to Houston at 2 and grew up in Minnesota ..

Stop with the Manyang to NBA talk, he isn't even close right now or before the season. Completely unrealistic expectations.
