The first #1 seed to fall. Maryland ran Tennessee off the floor in the first half. The shot about the same. Maryland had a lot more fouls. But, Maryland had a lot of steals (13), and Tennessee had a lot of turnovers (22-16).

Maryland's losses this year have been to Connecticut, Duke, North Carolina, NC State, Virginia, and Notre Dame. I think all except Notre Dame and NC were on the road.

Louisville destroyed LSU. Shooting 24% will get you beat. It isn't that Louisville hit everything. They hit a normal percentage: 40% from two and from three. But, LSU hit nothing. Of course, LSU was missing two of its top four scorers: Kenney and Moncrief.

This sets up a Maryland/Louisville game in the Elite Eight. ESPN says that Brenda and Jeff don't "remain in contact" since Walz left the Maryland staff.

Not surprised about Tenn. Even though they're loaded with athletes, they never looked the part of a #1 seed to me. They wouldn't have beaten UL even if they had won today IMO but I'm guessing UL beats MD too.

Not surprised. I think Jeff takes her behind the woodshed on Tues though.

If they have a feud, I'm rather disappointed. I like both of them.

All I know is this is one of the best days of basketball I've ever seen. Men's and women's has been remarkable.

Can't wait to see Baylor in the E8. They are a team on the move.

You can never be sure that you can beat Sims, but Notre Dame has a lot more scorers than Baylor. The importance of Davis cannot be exaggerated in this game. I look for a fight, but ND is really good. I'm not sure that UConn can take them.

BTW, I love being a walk-on again. It's been 10+ years since I've had that designation. Funny how our moderator got all his posts back since the "crash" though.

I guess that presumed dominance is more valuable than I thought.

Honestly, I could care less. I always thought that WNBA Hall of Fame was a bit pretentious.

It appears to me that just about everyone has their normal post count and whether someone is a moderator or not is not an issue.

Am i the only one that thinks Dawn Staley did a terrible job of managing her team and the game the last few minutes?

I don't think Staley is a very good X's and O's coach but she is a great recruiter and I don't think it will be long when she can win with tremendous talent in spite of her coaching shortcomings.

I guess that's a good thing. :sherri175_jpg_xs:

Approx. a minute and a half left, SC is down by 3 and they immediately begin fouling. I've seen that happen in other games and always wondered what those coaches are thinking.

The PBP guy was sort of questioning the strategy but the gal with him wasn't going to say anything bad.And then once they started fouling they kept fouling the 85% shooter.

And I just didn't like the offense they were running at the end. They had several possessions where #41 didn't touch the ball.
