NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma freshman Tommy Mason-Griffin was named to the All-Big 12 men's basketball third team today and also was selected to the league's five-man all-rookie squad. OU sophomore Willie Warren earned honorable mention all-conference honors.

Mason-Griffin, a 5-11, 203-pound point guard, averaged 13.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game in the regular season while shooting .423 from 3-point range and .798 from the free throw line. He ranks 17th in the Big 12 in scoring, fourth in assists, fifth in 3-point field goal percentage and fifth in 3-pointers per game (2.3).

Mason-Griffin's numbers were even higher in league games. He ranked ninth in scoring (16.9), fourth in assists (4.6), sixth in free throw percentage (.831), fourth in 3-point field goal percentage (.430) and third in 3-pointers per outing (2.9).

The Houston, Texas, native has led OU in scoring in nine of the last 13 games and is averaging 18.7 points and 4.9 assists during the stretch. He set OU freshman records with his 145 assists and 69 3-pointers on the season, and could set school freshman marks in minutes per game and 3-point field goal percentage.

Mason-Griffin led the Big 12 (conference games only) in minutes played (averaged 37.9), and that includes the league opener at Baylor when he did not play in the first half. He has played at least 37 minutes in 14 of the last 15 games, including 40 or more minutes eight times in those 15 outings.

Despite the fact he was the only freshman named to the All-Big 12 first, second or third teams, Mason-Griffin was not named Big 12 Freshman of the Year. That honor went to Colorado's Alec Burks.

Joining Mason-Griffin on the Big 12 All-Rookie Team were Burks, Baylor's Ekpe Udoh, Kansas' Xavier Henry and Texas' Avery Bradley.

Warren, who missed half of OU's Big 12 games due to injury or illness, averaged 16.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists in his 21 outings on the year. He scored at least 20 points seven times and shot .795 from the free throw line.

Warren underwent season-ending arthroscopic ankle surgery this past Wednesday.
