MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

I honestly don't get the Kobe Elvis love from the OU coaches. According to Lusk they like the way he shoots it. His shooting stats do not look impressive to me.

Can you do me a favor and do your stats comparison for these guys? Tre Donaldson, Devon Barnes, Kobe Elvis, and two guys I think would be good bench PG scorers in Jason Edwards from North Texas and Issac McBride from Oral Robers.
This a really good post.

I truly think we could get 3-5 guys on here, lock ourselves in a room, comb through the kids in the portal, watch tape, and come up with a better target list. I'm serious. Devon Barnes? No. Kobe Elvis? No.

I like Aaron Scott somewhat but we could probably do better than that. But he might be easy to pluck with Liz being at OU. I imagine their parents love the idea. Who'd want to go to Norman to watch one kid and then possibly Queens (NYC) to watch the other. That's a lot of time, money, effort.

From your list, I'd take McBride first.

I gave up football message boards...too much of a time suck.
If I were to pick it up again, I'd probably go over to the sooners360 gang (if it is still around).
With the scoop content being on podcast and youtube, there isn't much of a point to pay anymore unless you just like the banter
I was fortunate enough to get on GameDay with a sign promoting SoonerScoop back in the day ('05) for a basketball broadcast. Josh_M said anyone who can get on TV and promote the site, gets lifetime membership. (Me and 2 buddies)

That is the main reason I am still there.

If Elvis is the best we are going to get i have no explanation other than PM is upset about the budget so he is just going to sign who he can and be under budget and have poor results so he will get fired and get a buyout.

I seriously wonder what kind of analytics they're using. We could probably pool our money and come up with a better NIL package than OU (kidding, sort of).

OT

This is a little funny.

My current view of the football portal thread.

I forgot that I had to switch credit cards (wife lost the one on file, changed card numbers).

I'm not "poor" but when the heck did ON3 become $12 a month? I don't want to pay $12 to post there. I don't read anything anymore. I don't pod.

What a dilemma. I guess I can create a dollar burner. Or maybe it's just sign that it's time to leave Scoop.

Anyway...

Kobe Elvis. Just OMG. No. College of Charleston fans are going to be so pissed....and so will I.
You want me to talk to Josh? You do too much for that Forum not to get your shit comped.

Well taxes on 50K of income are nowhere near 50%, even in California. Also, it doesn't cost 8-10k to book a flight and check in to whatever athletic dorm they have.
All dependent on where they are moving from.

50% overall tax burden is not unusual when everything is considered. And the cost of living is very high in cali.
Moving expenses are likely higher than you think they are as well

Moved a kid cross country into college this year. We probably spent $1500 total.

And the overall tax burden on that extra $20k isn't going to move the needle no matter where you live.

This is simply not true for an income of 50K. 22% federal income tax, 6% state tax. The kid can also live on campus for free.

Random twitter guy who hates NIL was wrong? Who woulda thunk it? It's so funny how opposed some of the folks are to NIL -- I'm sure some of the players make bad financial decisions, but to make crap up and use it to argue against NIL is lame. Plus, last I checked, millions of adults made crappy financial decisions.

I think you all are looking way too literal into that tweet and missing the point.
On a site with so much hyperbole and exaggeration, that is kind of surprising

Point being, $50k in California isn't the same at $50k somewhere else. Don't just look at the number

It’s extremely disconcerting that there’s little to no movement recruiting wise with anybody with some size.

It pretty much is when you don't have any bills. You think he's paying rent and utilities? lol
