MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

For that amount of money you could move them anywhere. We also have Zoom and Facetime. It really wouldn't be smart to turn down that much money.
No amount of money could be given that would replace holding my son when he was one year hold and seeing him smile vs. seeing him on Zoom or Facetime.

And not everyone is willing to pick up their bags and move away from their "home", family, extended family, roots, job, etc. just for more money.

Ask Scott Drew.

Don’t waste your time arguing with Tarheel. As if him taking pot shots at other posters on one board sent enough…now he’s found his way over here. The comment about Northweather being a knock down shooter came from PORTER MOSER…people were simply repeating what the guy who sees him in practice everyday said. Yet he makes it sound like it was someone’s personal opinion.

Is LN a great player at this point? No…but he was just a RS freshman, and will only get better. Tarheel would have wanted to run off Stacey King in the day too. He didn’t do much until his Jr season. (No, I’m not saying Luke will be anything close to King), the point is players improve.
You've mentioned Tarheel 3 times in this shit in less than 24 hours. Obsess much? God people are fucking weirdos on the internet man.

Pedulla>McCollum. Slightly
Elvis<Uzan. Not close
Scott<Oweh. Slightly
Moore=Moore
Garrison>Godwin. Slightly
Jones<Soares. Not close
Cooper=Darthard. We'll see
Godwin>Hughley. Slightly

I just don't see it. Garrison & Cooper would have to make huge jumps for it to move the needle slightly.
You saying garrison is only slightly upgraded from Godwin invalidates anything else you said

Appreciate the response.

I'll just add this, Pedulla took 80 more shots than McCollum did last year. Pedulla also turned the ball over about 40 more times.

Scott wasn't "lights out" last year. Maybe the year before. Which version do we get? Will the increase in competition affect his shooting? He played the 4 at NT. Can he play the wing/3 in the SEC? Can he switch and defend 1-4? I don't know.
Turnovers is my biggest concern with Pedulla. Everything else he seems pretty solid and played at a P6 level of competition.

But he turned the ball over about 35% more than Los. He might be our best option, but still has some flaws.

This man went back to the 1980's and compared Stacey King to Luke Northweather. I can't. It's 2024. Stop bringing up people from the 80's like they wouldn't transfer out if they were playing today.

"No amount of money." Soooo you would not have taken 100 million dollars to be away from your son temporarily during the week (you could still see him on the weekends and when you have breaks and fly him in often even when you're busy)? I'm thinking most people would take that deal.

I mean, it's not ideal but lots of people have jobs where they're away from home for long stretches.

Also, Scott Drew is already rich

Pick about ANY player you want and compare their freshman stats to their junior stats. Player improve and get better.

First of all, Garrison isn't being offered 100MM dollars.

Second, he's not going to be able to fly back on the weekends as that is when he plays.

Third, not just no, but hell no would I take it. My son & being in his life has been priceless. IDC how much money it was- being a dad to my son was worth more. Being there when he walks, says his first da-da, falling asleep with him taking a nap- money/job cannot replace those moments. I know many others on this board would say the same thing.

Not everyone thinks more money is the most important factor in the world. It's in the realm of possibility that Garrison is one of those, too.

Is that team better than this year's team? I'd say no.
I concur. If OU lands Pedulla, keeps Moore (duh), and lands Garrison, that's a really good trio but...

...the supporting cast doesn't really cut it, IMO.

Kobe Elvis should not be a potential starter at OU. And that is the current plan...which makes my head hurt. Unlike others (not anyone on here), I will not blow smoke up people's asses on that kid. Maybe I'll be proven wrong but I don't see anything that screams to me that OU will have improved their 2 guard situation.

Aaron Scott, I don't mind as much, but is probably best served to be your 6th man. Maybe that's more about me wanting more actual talent as starters. Scott is good though, he's just not on the Pedulla/Garrison/Moore level and I'd, selfishly, love one more "dude".

So far, Jadon Jones hasn't scheduled an OU visit per "a source" via a DM. Maybe that'll change. But assuming it doesn't, OU would have one scholarship to play with.

Pedulla, who we all clearly want, will have to play much smarter basketball, cut the turnovers down, and be a more efficient shooter for OU to have major success. He'd have to carry the bulk of the scoring load, for sure. You may be able to draw correlation to Trae's year at OU....a tiny bit, maybe.

Garrison is super raw still. Does that mean I'd rather OU not add him? Of course not. I love BG's potential but I'd just be careful expecting him to come in next year and setting the world ablaze (hypothetically thinking, for example, he'd get 16 ppg, 9 rpg). I'm just not sure he's ready for that kind of production just yet.

It's way too early but just hypothesizing the roster we're talking about, I'll say 17-20 wins is the most they can squeeze out and they'll need to be injury free because the depth will be meh.

I hope something changes with the Elvis thought process...although, I don't expect it to. Moser is fuccing stubborn.

You said "No amount of money." I'M saying that I would take life-changing amounts of money to be away for a while during the semester but still be able to visit and see and possibly move my family closer.

I'm saying he can fly his son to wherever he is on the weekends because he'll have at least a million dollars in the bank and no bills.

I'm saying that money does matter, especially for these guys who are probably not going to the NBA. If he misses out on the bag now and his son ends up on welfare I guess he'll still have the fond memories of seeing him smile or whatever.

Will he improve as much as Los and Oweh did after their first season? Or maybe he will make a big leap like Noland. Tanner, and Jacob did after their first season under Moser. As we know, development has been AMAZING under this coach.

And if people simply repeat what the coach says about a guy based on practice, then those people aren't smart sports fans. First of all, it's practice. Second of all, coaches tend to hype up their players. Even if you are naïve enough to believe a preseason comment by the coach, it was pretty clear within the first month of the season that Luke is not a guy who would play more than a few minutes on a good team.

Clearly has me on ignore, but I have posted this several times on the board.

Wtf? Welfare?!? OU is supposedly offering him $600K. Don't think that would qualify for welfare in any state.

Nothing like hyperbole in trying to prove a point. Not everyone has the same perspective as you that more money can be more important than more family time.

Hope Garrison is one of those dudes.

I'm saying that in 3 or 4 years he will be out of college and he will have to support his family. I'm not talking about welfare *today*. $600K is a LOT of money, but $1.5 million or that neighborhood would be almost impossible to turn down. 600K a year is a lot but is it "set for life" money? I don't think so. $1.5 million a year for 3 years is pretty much "set for life" money.

Lol and you are purposely ignoring the point of the post
