MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

Duke lost five scrubs and two good players. They have the top class in the country coming in and five of the defections would never have seen the floor, and the other two guys likely would have seen their roles change significantly. And do you really think Duke, of all programs, is lacking NIL funds? If they get outbid for a player, e.g., Roach, it isn't because they can't afford him, it is likely because they simply don't think he is worth as much as he is asking for and they are confident they will be fine without him.
My point was that players are migrating from one program to the next due to the desire to make $$$ or more money in NIL. Duke has a history of winning, has facilities, has a solid coach, and gets players to the next level with ease. Yet they lost 7 players. Bench guys or not. Typically, they have everything a program has to attract players. Same with Alabama. Fresh off a FF, they are still losing guys to the portal due to the appeal of a bigger NIL deal.

I asked to name one P6 program that is winning without a strong NIL program. I don't believe there is one, regardless of how great the coach is or isn't.

We could get a better coach, but that only makes us marginally better. Until we get an AD and admin that gives two sh*ts about basketball, we'd be on this board next offseason complaining how we lost another so-so PG or PF from a mid-major because they're getting bigger bags elsewhere.

That is the cold reality of the low of where our program is RN.

Brody Lusk just confirmed that Pedulla and his camp thought it was too much of a risk to go to OU because he values winning more than anything.

Brody Lusk is a 17 year old that knows about as much as my 10 year old daughter. He never was coming. Hell for them to get him on a visit was a Miracle.

Also, his style of play has been the catalyst to them losing at Va Tech.

Can you name one school that is winning- and by winning I mean top 25 program, competing for at least conference championships and Sweet 16- in a P6 conference that ISN'T backing up the Brinks truck and playing the NIL game?

If it wasn't about money and NIL, then why are Alabama and Duke losing a ton of players? Both current elite programs with good coaches and facilities.

Not defending Moser, but without support from our AD and admin, it doesn't matter if we fired Moser today or not. We could be MARGINALLY better, but not "winning".
I've named several on here.

And your measurement of success isn't what I'm looking for right now. I don't need multiple Sweet 16's and conference championships to be happy. I want a consistent top 30 type team that finishes in the top 1/4 or maybe 1/3 of the conference most years. I want to make the NCAA Tournament 8 or 9 times out of 10.

YOU or anybody else on this message board cannot convince me we don't have the resources to do that. But we hired a knucklehead coach that lucked into having one really good team that went on one or two good NCAA Tournament runs, and despite his other 15 years as a HC and being abysmal, they thought he could coach. He couldn't. He can't. Find somebody that can and we'll be 2-5 games better easily.

I guess I haven't seen your list of several P6 programs that are winning without NIL.

And winning 2 or so more games a year doesn't do sh*t a year for me. So we make the last four in vs. the first four out? Is that really where you want our program to be?

I agree another coach/a better coach could win 2-5 more games. But squeaking into the tournament and never making it out of the first weekend isn't what I call winning. We would be in the same spot as we are next offseason fighting for mid major recruits or PGs that averaged over 3 TOs per game.

As far as not having better resources, isn't the proof in the results of the investment, or lack of, into our basketball program? It's not there.

And until we get better support from the AD and NIL, we're not getting a better coach that could do better than that exact scenario.

I think I'm probably one of the biggest sunshine pumpers on this board. There's no sunshine to pump right now.
A lot of you guys are. That's when you know things are bad. When there isn't much sunshine left.

Why is everyone up in arms over the pedulla kid he is ok but not a difference maker either.

Over/Under of 12 wins next season?

Forsythe
Elvis
Cooper
Moore / Cole / Atak
Godwin / Northweather

It’s time for Porter and Co to just go young. Put what money you have to get young guys who didn’t get a ton of minutes and are looking for a chance (like cooper) or ones looking more offensive opportunity. One that comes to mind is that Iowa state PF. Dude hasn’t been talked about at all since entering but has a lot of potential.

Whoever said Cole would have a say in our record next year, I apologize. At this rate, you are likely correct.

I don't care what it does for you.

The difference between 20 wins and 22/23 wins is HUGE. One puts you squarely on the bubble. The other can get you a seed that says you should be winning your 1st round game.

He wasn't trying to make that point. SB believes that jdizzle is an OSU fan.
He can believe it, but it doesn't make it true. He's just bitter. Like a lot of us on here are, that the program is basically in shambles.
