MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

Just amazing.

You let Ole Miss come in and snag an OKPreps kid.

A state that's poorer than Oklahoma. A University that's poorer. A basketball program that has almost no relevant history.

Except...Ole Miss has a better HC and NIL. Those are the biggest differences right now. And an admin that gets it, apparently.

All you had to do was go to Omaha two years ago to see how rabid Ole Miss’s fan base is compared to ours. The myth of OU having great fans is just that. A myth.

He's probably a starter and that's fine. At this point, fill the roster and get on with it.
I agree. Things are going to be bad. It is what it is. Moser needs to fill the roster and Joe C needs to start accumulating a list of HC’s to call next March.

How are the metrics used by the ncaa committee my opinion?
You stating that we were a bubble team under Lon every year without Buddy is a flat lie. Either that, or you somehow think an 8/9 seed is on the bubble.

The Kruger folks will be in shortly to put lipstick on the losing conference records.

I couldn't believe the amount of Ole Miss fans in Omaha. I thought the Rebels beating Arky was the door swinging wide open. I was ready to buy my successor to the "25 guys pulling on the same rope" shirts.

You think we maybe have as much money as Oregon? So you've never heard of Phil Knight?

Good Lord. You are way off on this one.
Yet, we continue to out recruit them and have always out recruited them. I’m not at all concerned about Oregon football.

OU football NIL can compete with almost anyone, outside of 3-4 teams and we’re doing that right now. Just because we won’t spend a ridiculous amount on one player doesn’t mean we don’t have the money. Just because we don’t get every player doesn’t mean we don’t have the money. There have been mistakes and lessons learned, but if you think we don’t have the money to play this game, you’re dead wrong.

OU basketball NIL isn’t great and will need to improve but we have more money this cycle. The problem is becoming moser and his staffs inability to close the deal. I would guess many people expect him to be fired next season, so it’s made it harder to recruit. I also think a terrible arena, poor game atmosphere, and poor fan support are continuing to make it difficult to recruit players. It’s the perfect crap storm weighing down the program. We can’t blame everything on NIL. There are multiple factors killing the program right now.

"Garrison and Pedulla will be a Sooner"

"I am not worried about other teams, Sooners will get Pedulla and Garrison"

"Sooners will get Garrison and Pedulla EASILY!"

Well, you all posted this only for you all to be wrong, next time, please stop making stupid predications so you all will not look like an idiot!

I actually like this pick up .. (i know i am being positive shocker).... really need someone else that can score ..
It's all good. I'll just hope for the best, lol. I don't see enough to be a starter in the SEC. I'm wrong a lot...so I hope that's the case here.

Jadon Jones. I'm okay with. At this point, for sure.

Not to argue with you but where did you hear the NIL stuff?

I hope to God it's not from OUI.

Those dudes are clueless as hell. I've heard Drumm say OU has plenty of NIL. Again, clueless. It lacks context because Drumm has no earthly idea when it comes to the CBB landscape (what other programs have in NIL).

OU is very much at the bottom of the SEC in NIL right now (poor ol' Ole Miss is money-whipping OU for basketball)...just like they were last season in the B12. OU did get more money but so did a lot of other programs.

According to most anyone who actually knows, OU's NIL was around $1M for last year's roster. I would guess they have $2-3M this season. The problem? There are schools out there paying some kids over a million (see: Jeremy Roach at $1.4M). OU needs another $1-2M. OU's still at a major NIL disadvantage.

And that's not taking up for Moser/staff. They suck at using the NIL they do have. I'm not sure I'd want to give them more. I'd rather put the money toward Moser's buyout at this point. What an absolutely clueless staff.
I don’t subscribe to any services because they’re worthless. So, I don’t listen to drumm, OUI, or any of those guys.

As for NIL, I was speaking about football and basketball. Football is going to be fine and will have the resources to win. Basketball is a different story. However, your post indicated exactly what I said, that we have more bball NIL this cycle. I don’t think NIL is preventing us from recruiting guys that can get us back to the tourney. We’re not going to have enough money to sign any of the top players but we could be getting winning players.

I think moser can’t close and everyone expects him to get fired anyway so why would they want to come here? When you add up the terrible arena, poor fan support, poor game day atmosphere, and this coaching staff, it’s a lot to overcome. Basketball NIL is below average but there’s half a dozen other things dragging the program down right now and Moser isn’t the kind of coach that can overcome any of that.

I could see the NIL being pulled if we can’t get garrison/pedulla or comparable players. I don’t see any reason to pay for bad players that aren’t going to get us into the tourney. We may be at a point where we just ride it out until next season and fire moser. Like you, I would rather take that $3 million and put it towards the buyout if we can’t get good players.
