MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

I'd throw everything at Garrison and Moore. If Garrison makes the leap he's capable of, there will be 1000 guards capable of playing 1-3 at a high enough level to make the tourney. Roll out the ball to 6 Darthards and let the best 3 start.

Damn, I missed this earlier.

OU ➡️ ORU ➡️ NSU

I hope he does well, seriously. Fitting spot.

OU Women's basketball in discussions to add Oregon State associate head coach Jonas Chatterton. Would seem to bode well for them adding Raegan Beers.

At least maybe one of our basketball teams can add a good transfer. Sorry if this is unwanted or overly negative. Fire me into the sun, if you wish.

How about this being used for an immediate call to action (NIL)?

"Tired of OU getting beat out for players, DONATE $20 today!" or something like that but crafted better (from someone with marketing skills, lol).

Nope, let's continue to sit on our damn hands.

It's hard to not accuse the coaches and admin of not giving a chit. Even if it's not true, that's the outward way it looks.

Transfer players are saying out loud what many have been harping on, Moser is a dead man walking. I do not think $$ is the main issue right now regardless of what Bob P may have stated.

Going into the SEC in this manner is just an embarrassment and that falls on the entire AD.

OU should have 10+ visitors on the campus this week. Identify targets, invite them to campus, see who bites, and go from there.

"Yo, Blake Griffin, how's it going? Heard you just retired. How would you like to come to Norman to "host" some recruits, etc?"

UGA
Tennessee

Others that easily could be:
Penn State
USC
Ole Miss
ND

I'd be pretty shocked if our annual spending was top 10 in NIL for football.
You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about. OU has as much money as any of those schools except aTm, Texas, and maybe Oregon & Ohio state but that’s debatable. The rest? OU can play even or better than the rest, including the SEC teams you listed.

OU football has the money and it’s being put to use. Our recruiting is getting better and the investment into the program is increasing.

I’ve also heard OU basketball has the NIL money this cycle and if we can’t land players, it’s not because of NIL. Take that however you want.

This is shaping up to be a dead season, a slow walk to firing moser and starting over.

We are seeing firsthand why Moser coached at UALR, Illinois State and Loyola before OU.

He was a 'good' hire at the time, but what a spectacular failure it has been. John Blake-level bad, all things considered.

That’s just complete BS. Moser’s teams have been very similar to Lon’s teams post-Buddy. Right on the bubble.

This program has been taking on water for a long time now. Finally starting to sink now it seems.

Reagan Beers was at the spring game Saturday, so that would make total sense! If she committed and transferred in that would be a program changing transfer, kind of like how Paris was when she came in.

Can’t do that because admin and the AD would be concerned it might be a gray area that could arise into a potential inquiry from the NCAA.

In other words, take zero risk or try to do things differently because we’re afraid of the way the NCAA operated 20 years ago.

Zero proof from marketing to NIL our admin knows how to navigate college basketball in 2024.

Not to argue with you but where did you hear the NIL stuff?

I hope to God it's not from OUI.

Those dudes are clueless as hell. I've heard Drumm say OU has plenty of NIL. Again, clueless. It lacks context because Drumm has no earthly idea when it comes to the CBB landscape (what other programs have in NIL).

OU is very much at the bottom of the SEC in NIL right now (poor ol' Ole Miss is money-whipping OU for basketball)...just like they were last season in the B12. OU did get more money but so did a lot of other programs.

According to most anyone who actually knows, OU's NIL was around $1M for last year's roster. I would guess they have $2-3M this season. The problem? There are schools out there paying some kids over a million (see: Jeremy Roach at $1.4M). OU needs another $1-2M. OU's still at a major NIL disadvantage.

And that's not taking up for Moser/staff. They suck at using the NIL they do have. I'm not sure I'd want to give them more. I'd rather put the money toward Moser's buyout at this point. What an absolutely clueless staff.

Lon made the tourney (easily) and won two games, even after things started to slowly decline. It's a laughable thing to compare the two.

Moser had the chance to, at minimum, keep the status quo or improve it. Instead, he completely tanked the program.

It's beyond perplexing that he continues to equate a guy who has never made the tourney at OU to one who basically never missed outside one aberration of a season plus his first year building back from the Capel mess.
