Because C&C really don't know what they are doing.

We can still get players already in the portal AFTER May 1st- they just can't enter the portal. So, not like we just wasted about 3-4 weeks on a player and a half...
1-week left of open portal then all we have are what is available or grad transfers if we get lucky. Is this what procrastination feels like? But like, really really poorly done?
If we don't get BG, then they may as well have just taken a 4 week vacation (as a coaching staff) before starting this portal thing.
Scooters is $5.50 in NYCWe can still get players already in the portal AFTER May 1st- they just can't enter the portal.
Good news?? With over 1500 players still in the portal, we have plenty of time and choices to fill out the roster. Bad news?? This nightmare roller coaster ride may last a while.
But that's still better than overpaying for a bench player by a couple hundred thousand or paying star money to a PG who shot 32% from 3 with 3.3. TO per game. Wanted them both but not for those prices. At some point, the $8 Starbucks coffee isn't worth it even if that is what people will pay. Scooter's at $4 may be just as refreshing.
Even if we had the money and that's what the market is- still not worth it with what is left in the portal.
Correct, I was not aware of the grad transfer rule change though. Interesting. Easier on coaches that way I suppose. We can still get players already in the portal AFTER May 1st- they just can't enter the portal.

We had good talent last season and didn't make the tourney. We saw what happened two years ago when we lacked talent -- we were awful, despite the fact we had three guys who were familiar with Moser plus a veteran PG. If we don't land at least two really, really good players, there is no reason to think that Moser will be able to cobble together a good team based on fit or intangible stuff like "chemistry."I think it makes bad fiscal sense to spend that much of the budget on Pedulla. You can probably field a better team by focusing on the parts and getting a good fit.
But I also think that it’s going to be hard to field a competitive team (at least competitive to make the tournament) on this budget based on what I’ve seen. Hope I’m wrong!
Donors have given pretty frequently in the past for facilities, and in some cases, they help pay coaches (when crazy Gregg Marshall was rumored to be looking at other jobs, WSU donors rallied to come up with money to keep him). Too bad OU doesn't have a Charles Koch willing to step up!Am I wrong thinking that this type of $$$ being thrown around can't last? I just don't see how donors can keep spending this type of money just to see their college field a team.
Yeah but this is going to be every year for 2-4 sports.Donors have given pretty frequently in the past for facilities, and in some cases, they help pay coaches (when crazy Gregg Marshall was rumored to be looking at other jobs, WSU donors rallied to come up with money to keep him). I think it probably has the best chance to last in basketball. Fewer players and even one guy can change the entire dynamic of a team.Am I wrong thinking that this type of $$$ being thrown around can't last? I just don't see how donors can keep spending this type of money just to see their college field a team.
Pedulla wasn't/isn't the only PG on the market. If Pedulla is getting that kind of money then what chance do we have to put a good roster together? Zero.
it for sure can last .. some donors give 1 mil to the athletic dept every year ... they are just moving where they send the moneyAm I wrong thinking that this type of $$$ being thrown around can't last? I just don't see how donors can keep spending this type of money just to see their college field a team.
There’s no doubt there are options. The concern is whether our staff will be able to get any of the good ones. The trends don’t favor us.Pedulla wasn't/isn't the only PG on the market.
Maybe one of the few from a P6 conference, but still PLENTY of other PG options out there.
