MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

Top 60 recruit and dudes on here act like we can afford to lose him. It blows me away. Legit chance he starts next year if he takes any leap at all.
247 has Cooper as #93 nationally (yes, I know that's just one ranking service); they had CJ Noland was #92 back in the day.

I'm not saying Cooper won't be better than Noland. I am saying there's no guarantee he will. Ranking services get it wrong often.

I for one wish ranking services had never become a thing. Fans rely on them far too much.

Whether fair or unfair (because of NIL and its newness), porter is trending even worse than Capel imo
Yea as much as I couldn’t stand Capel and considered him a disaster, he at least managed to have one decent and one great season. And yes, only because of Blake, but he at least managed to get Blake to Norman.

That was my point. He also got better raw talent overall (gallon TMG). Just not a coach and lacked a real solid strategy (remind you of anyone? )

Things were never going to just magically come together for Moser next year. We as fans just need to accept that next year will be bad but hopeful that Joe C can make a better hire next time. **** like this happens to programs sometimes. But there’s no need to get overally excited or depressed this offseason and season.

If this team made the tournament as projected, kept its core together, and then added a solid 5, there would be plenty of reason for optimism going into next year.

We didn't, everybody left, and nobody has been interested in joining a lame duck coach. Everything unraveled on Selection Sunday. We should have moved on at that moment. If Moser magically has a Sweet 16 run next year, we'd have a much easier time retaining/recruiting talent next year, but he's going to have to do it with portal leftovers.

Whoever comes in next year is going to have to take their lumps in the first season (as all coaches since Sampson have done). We're looking at a 2-3 year rebuild, which isn't fun considering the past 8 seasons.

Porter's a dead coach walking. I wasn't sure if he was a Power conference coach to begin with, but I've given him the benefit of the doubt. Add the changes in the sport (NIL, portal) and the issues surrounding basketball at OU, and he's almost at the end of the road unless one of these portal guys just lights it up next year. He'll get a buyout, move back to Chicago, and probably do TV at some point.

Joe C. generally gives coaches four years barring scandal or personal issues. (example: Pete Hughes, baseball) He's not going to pull the rug out now...if he did, next year's coach would be basically an interim at this point.

I hope we do well next year. I'm not getting my hopes up.

It is what it is.

Welp, so much for building through the HS ranks. Cooper should have been a core piece. Regardless of what he does or does not become. That's why he was brought here. That's why Uzan and Oweh were brought here. Now all 3 are gone and the only person left on the roster that Moser recruited from HS in 3 years here is an upcoming RS Freshman who didn't play due to injury.

I've leaned towards supporting Moser since he's been here, but it's hard to argue that his recruiting/retention of players to build his team here has not been a colossal failure. All this means is we are going to be right back here next year with or without PM as the head coach. Maybe Cooper switches course and ends up returning, but can you blame him for not wanting to be here? I, for one, cannot.

I do believe there was a lot of smoke during conference play that we were going to lose a number of guys regardless of making the tourney or not. Selection Sunday was not the nail in the coffin from the sounds of it, but it certainly didn't help the reputation of the team in the portal this offseason.

Just like Waldo obviously didn’t deserve to start till late February. After all, if our brainless coach thought so, it has to be true.
He didn't deserve to early in the year. Oweh was playing really well...but your rebuttal is more of a side step and doesn't address the statement

Someone contact the Lubbock Christian kid. It doesn't even matter what position at this point. Nor do we need to watch any film, lol. Just sign him up sight unseen. 😂
