MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

@notaburner can chime in with the latest OU-sided inside info, if he's around/knows. I don't know anything yet myself.

This morning Trilly said this (SIAP)...

Of course, that was earlier today while Richmond is/was in Norman (no idea when he's leaving)...so much depends on the bag, right? And if Kadary liked the rest of the visit (Moser's overall pitch/playing & living in Norman/etc).

I will say, St. John's is in a similar position as OU. They want to feature Smith and Richmond. 1a, 1b. OU would do the same with Miles/Richmond, obviously.

Looking at this chart, they'd slide Wilcher to 2nd team, put Smith at the starting 1...then slide the frosh down at the 2 & put Richmond there. Dillon Mitchell or Jamir Watkins, maybe, would fill their last spot (PF).

A starting lineup of Smith-Richmond-Luis-Mitchell-Ejiofor would be one of the worst shooting starting groups in America. They lack shooting in general. Our staff should be highlighting how much better the shooting is on our roster around him, at least at this point (which I’m sure they are).

With the assumption that we go for another Center and can't get both. Who would y'all rather have, JIC or Richmond?

Also thinking we either get Reeves/Onyenso, Reeves is very underrated and would love to have him as a co-starter to Godwin

I'm probably in the minority (and I'm ok with that), but I'd just as soon we never paid a player a million dollars. It seems like the first step onto a very slippery slope. It's not as though we're one player away from being contenders for a national title (and even if we were, I'd have my reservations). If a player is truly deserving of that kind of money, he should be in the NBA.

You are probably not in the minority. Unfortunately the slippery slope is already frozen over at a very steep grade, and ou has had pretty much nothing to do with it to this point. It is simply the cost of doing business now, and ou has to do it if they want any consistent success.

I see it being more of a Scott at the 4, for whatever reason that is...but for arguments sake, I will add Dillon in here to see a starting lineup comparison:

We aren’t getting Richmond are we?
Considering the Duke (Miles) visit was all excitement with a tease from notaburner and BobP actually talking all day, Lusk with his dumb gifs...(stock is not up on the feels)

To be fair though, the Kentucky Derby and softball was on...so...there is that? *double eye roll*

Some follow updates though?

Custer actually followed Cooks/Goodine recently.
Elvis with the Cooks/Goodine follows

The downside, Custer is watching the Kentucky Derby with his mom today...per IG story (record it, watch it tomorrow with a big hat...we got some CROOTIN to DO!) I am kidding ... right?

Okay then OU is stupid for paying more than they had to.

These NILs at these schools talk to each other to make sure players/agents aren't lying. Trust me the number isn't over a Million.
Trust me, you don’t know what you’re talking about. It was $1 million and change.

They’re all good players individually, they just don’t fit together offensively. Even with Scott as a starter it’s still a bad shooting group overall.

This is something I really like about the 4 we've got committed from the Portal:

We lost a few games due to poor free throw shooting last year. The gap is so narrow between teams at times, you have to be able to win at the line.
You made me go into a dork-spiral, so here is a breakdown of some stats I thought would be interesting.

Trying to find the correlation in columns, even though it is always a multitude of correlations. So what I did was take the amount of times that OU coincided with the win or loss, same with the opponent, to determine the highest amount of frequency that the Result matched up with the outcome match in the corresponding column.

The problem was that the numbers were being skewed a bit by non-con play. So I had to take out non-con, an add in UNC/Iowa/USC to get a better barometer of OU vs. mostly decent teams. (Okie Lite excluded lol)

So what I determined was the following:

The teams that won the game had the following positive correlation
1714917586245.png

Made FGs was by far the highest correlation with the winning team.
2nd was FG%
3rd was 3P% and FTs made
3 pointers attempted was the lowest, which was interesting.

I decided to then break it down into the games OU lost v. won (including UNC/Iowa/USC).

In the games that OU lost, they lost 100% of the time bc they made less FGs:

In the games that OU won, they won 88% of 3P% and PFs:

In summary, we efficiently shot the 3 better in our wins and fouled less. In our losses, making less buckets and turning it over were our downfalls.

FTs made were a 75% indicator on both, so they do matter.

But I really don't think anyone knows how the OU visit went, yet
Once the On3 writers stop their updates/pieces on Softball series and Lusk writes an article by himself (his Richmond article was soooo hard to read bc of the AI, it was awful) ... I am sure we will find out something?

Again, it's not like it is the top-ranked portal entry guard that would be a massive shot in the arm for the #2 revenue generator for a program or anything...lololololol

Also, random, but is Sooners360 a thing still?

360 shut down iirc

360 shut down iirc
Dind't really have an "oof" emoji response. Interesting bc I have seen a lot of the exodus members back from there. Maybe they just went back to OUI instead of On3. Who knows.

Nothing against the exodus btw, just hadn't heard much about it all since that first month or so since the mini-split.
