MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

I’m saying Lon probably would have done even better if he had some money that could legally go to players. If you guys think Porter has one arm tied behind his back because other schools have more money, Lon had both arms tied because other schools were paying under the table and we didn’t play that game.

And I appreciate the compliment in your other post. I’m perfectly fine being called the worst poster on the board by the circle jerk crew. Pretty much everything I predicted about this team and coach has come true, but like I said, keep telling yourself that our coach has things on the right track.
You must listen to OU games on the radio.

If JM goes to GA Tech (doubt he will) he was pretty desperate to get out of Norman.

I would certainly like to know WHY he wants to leave after one season. He didn't have a good enough season which he'll bank a lot more NIL money, and the issue is clearly not playing time. Is it Moser, assistants, teammates, not winning enough, or something else? Who knows, but it would be nice to know the WHY part.

Pure guess here, but it sure seems like his camp has unrealistic expectations about his future. They clearly view him as an NBA player and a college star. I imagine they realize how much the last three months of the season hurt him and are looking to improve his stock. I recall someone in his camp (can’t recall which guy) tweeting more than once about the offense and questioning his role in it.

So Lampkin committed to Syracuse last night on IG Live, a team that I don't think was even on the latest 4-5 team list he released? And during the stream, he took a "bathroom break" and made everybody listen to him going to the restroom?

lol, what a clown.

lol i'd love to see that vid

Damn, I don't remember what I was doing at 5:30 on March 30 but I missed this kid/tweet.

I don't think anything will happen but still...shows contact.

I have to be honest, not overly pissed or anything, but I don't love only one visit pre-dead period. At least that we know about.

Especially since we (the staff) knew we were going to have several roster spots to fill. Not like we were waiting for guys to decide, the staff knew 2-3 guys were leaving at a minimum.

Alright, here is a list of teams that finished NET 30-50 this year.

I am showing their portal in and out going into the year and their finish in the NET that year. Totals are in the far right column. The last column is the NET average, making OU the 10th best team out of these 20. Used On3 numbers for portal (which is why OU is inaccurate for 2024, and 247sports for the other teams on3 didn't have)

Most portal out? Texas A&M, Oklahoma with 17. St. John's with 15. (Coaching changes in St John's and Oklahoma, not Aggies)
Most portal in? St. John's, Oklahoma with 15.

I also think Bob(Alphabet)P says it pretty well and succinctly in his latest article on Scoop:

"What Moser and staff did so right last year, it now must do again. But have to do it at an even higher level. Because regardless if you feel OU was snubbed from the NCAA Tournament, the official record will show three seasons in Norman and zero tournament appearances for Moser.

Getting the same level of talent won’t cut it. It’s time to make something special happen. And it might be the last time to get this chance.
"

Thanks for compiling. Sure feels like our numbers are way too high on an annual basis considering that our coaching change was 3 years ago. Obviously it made sense and was expected that we would have turnover right after the change, and maybe even the following offseason. But we are still having far more turnover than most even though every guy on this year's roster was recruited by the same person who is still coaching the team.

I agree, it is a very concerning trend. I thought we would see a few teams higher than us, so the results are a bit jarring.

You can't expect to climb out of that 40-50 NET team and have that kind of turnover. Need to have some solid pieces. Heck, maybe a guy for 3 years that isn't Godwin as your dang starter.

Edit to add: there are other factors like graduation and such that play into these numbers, but still
