MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

Obviously, today starts the dead period and it'll run through the 11th.

Coaches can contact portal prospects. They can't visit them in-person nor can the prospects visit campuses.

So, I went overboard.

Here are the Top-50 NET teams this year, their previous 3 years in portal in/out and their NET rankings. I have added totals, where the data came from, and totals with this year included as of today's portal entrants.

Oklahoma focused data insights:

-Oklahoma is 2nd most in total portal outs (21) (Texas Tech (24) ahead)
-Oklahoma is 3rd most in total portal ins (15) (Texas Tech (18), Iowa St (16) ahead)
-Oklahoma is 35th in NET avg rating of the 50 teams
-St. Mary's, Michigan St are least in total portal ins (1)
-Houston (2) is least with total portal outs (St. Mary's, Purdue, Villanova are 2nd with (3) each)

Absolutely brutal numbers. This post/graphic should be pinned so people can remember it any time someone suggests "every team is going through the same thing we are." And it's noteworthy that Tech went through two coaching changes, including the dramatic situation that led to Adams being removed. And Iowa State was coming off an 0-19 league record when they made their coaching change, so they obviously needed/wanted to clear the decks and bring in a new roster. And with all that, the teams with similar roster turnover have all made the tourney -- with our Sooners the only outlier.

The other thing that makes it so noteworthy is that Moser has said himself that his philosophy and program-building approach is centered on continuity. It's not like he is a guy who wants/prefers to flip his roster each season. Some coaches are more than happy to do that, but Moser isn't built that way. It just highlights that he has not accomplished any of the things he set out to accomplish.

I'm sure some will make excuses (NIL! The arena! The fans!) But this is a list of 50 teams that span the spectrum of the sport. Some are P5, some aren't. Some are traditional basketball schools, some aren't. Some have better NIL, some don't. And we are pretty much the worst of them all.

Tipton committed to On3

I blocked those two a long time ago on Twitter (especially Hayes), due to repeatedly seeing their shitty "edits" pop up on my timeline RT'ed from other accounts. Their GraphicDesignIsMyPassion.meme style graphics should result in jail time, preferably at Guantanamo Bay.

Anyway, my Twitter feed is better off for it and it's also incredibly fitting and hilarious that they look alike. Kinda like the edits they make.

Wow, what a waste. Must have been a big bag.
Yeah, not sure how many big bags Memphis can give out and have teams completely underachieve due to coaching until guys finally figure out that they can get a big bag and better coaching somewhere else.

Posting this because I/we have mentioned him previously...

He followed all of the OU coaches but I guess they're just not interested.
