McDonald's AA Nominees

Getting nominated means almost nothing. Obviously the list is huge, and half those guys likely have zero real college aspirations in basketball (I know of one guy from Missouri who hasn't played more than a few games over the past two seasons).

Yeah you're right and people have probably seen this list already, some of the names just caught me by surprise.

Would you say the state of Missouri is better than the state of Oklahoma in HS basketball? I see more names under Missouri...I played in Oklahoma HS's but don't know much about Missouri.

No idea.

Oklahoma's put out a lot more talent recently, it seems (this year is different, though).

Missouri's had some outstanding classes, especially in the 90s. From 94-99, Missouri put out Jahidi White, Derek Hood, Loren Woods/Chris Carrawell, Larry Hughes, JaRon Rush and Kareem Rush in consecutive years (then had David Lee in 2001 after a down year in 2000). Since then, though, Hansbrough has been the only real All American type guy from MO. This year should be different with four top 50 players (Beal's close to a sure thing, and Porter may be, as well; Young and McLemore... we'll see in two years).

This...nominations are the McDAA equivalent to getting a recruiting letter in the mail.

That Oklahoma list is done by Greg Swaim, and he's seen 25% of the kids he lists play.

Isn't that a bit silly. There are hundreds of names on that list, probably well in excess of 500.

Yeah, my bad guys. I'm a little late to the McDonald's party this year. I didn't even realize that the roster was set when I started the post. Kind of a clown thread, I must admit.
