McGusty Transferring

1 maybe 2 more transfers? popcorn is ready!

My guess, KD and CJ... just guesses

I can assure you Lon asked him to stay. The chances of OU landing a player with his talent this late in the game is very, very small. These types of players have already signed or they have many, many suitors. Losing Shepard is a non-factor. Mcgusty is a devastating loss, though.

The McGusty we saw as a freshman would be a devastating loss, not the one we saw this season.

Having said that, when I heard last week Kam would ask for his release today, I was hoping he would stay. If the “cancer” rumor is true, maybe this is for the best.

No to CJ.

I'd guess KD for sure
Freeman makes sense as well but I don't see it b/c he came from oversees.
I'd probably lean towards Odomes. I think he got the shaft a lot this year.

Never was a team guy, only cared about himself. Shouldn't even have lasted 2 years here. See ya, mcgusty

How long you think Sampson would have kept him around?

I’m pretty sure Sampson is blowing up his phone right now (probably already has been, illegally) judging by Kellen’s “love” of his transferring tweet.

Sampson would have turned him into a 15ppg scorer.

I'd be selfish too if I were sitting on the bench behind less talented players, watching a freshman jack up 20 shots a game, half of which were from 5 feet beyond the 3 point line.

There is nothing wrong with knowing you can be a good player, and wanting that opportunity. Especially on a struggling team. Time will tell, but I think he'll end up somewhere and do really well.

He averaged 8ppg in 18 minutes.

Our offense will be Christian James, Mcneace, and Manek next year....awesome.

Matt or anyone else:

There has been a discussion of Jordan leaving. So, why is McGusty leaving? Anyone know. Did Lon ask him to go, did he ask him to stay, or is neither of these things true. Maybe, Lon left it up to him and he just didn't like the situation as OU. Until late, he didn't start and didn't play much. I think he has potential, but sort of took the year off I guess, if I'm hearing what you guys are saying.

I guess I'm interested in whether Lon has found other players and is just cleaning house so he can give the new guys schollies, or if the roster is changing without regard to whether we have silent commits to take their place.

Any insight is appreciated.

Didn't like his role after James put in a **** ton of work over the summer. James became the better player, so McGusty was moved to the bench. A guy went from the best player on the team to a bench guy, and he didn't like that. Add in all the drama from the locker room, and he wanted out. I'm sure Kruger doesn't like losing talent like McGusty, but if players can't accept their roles, then he isn't going to stop them from leaving.

See ya! Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Not surprised but at the same time I’m dead.

Best scorer on the team.

People blaming Trae Young for McGusty transferring are idiots. “Oh no! They didn’t like playing with the guy that led the nation in assists! How awful!” Just moronic.

It wouldn’t make sense since he already knew TY was leaving. But if you consider that all offense went through TY, that others touched the ball significantly less, and that Kam no longer started you could say that TY was probably involved indirectly.
