McGusty Transferring

Doolittle won't be going anywhere. Freeman, Odomes, Polla, are all options to move. Some rumblings about Manek as well, but I think he stays.

Manek? Man that would be a back-breaker if he left.

It wouldn’t make sense since he already knew TY was leaving. But if you consider that all offense went through TY, that others touched the ball significantly less, and that Kam no longer started you could say that TY was probably involved indirectly.

I’ve got an idea, maybe they should have tried harder to make the multitude of wide-open shots and layups that came as a result of all the on-time, perfect passes delivered by TY and then they would have been more involved.

It was glaring to an outsider that Kam didn't put in the work to get better between his freshman and sophomore seasons. He was a carbon copy of the player he was when he got on campus. Low energy, zero defense, good shooter off the dribble.

If he was honest with himself, then staying on campus and putting in the work would be his best solution. Doesn't appear that he agreed and wish him the best down the road.

Perhaps. I am not taking a side on it. I am just suspecting that the TY experiment didn’t do much for team unity.

What experiment? Trae’s teammates let him down. Look at the Rhode Island game. The starters outside of TY made exactly 1 three point shot. Only in the last 5 minutes of regulation, when Trae put the team on his back,
did OU get back in the game and send it to OT. Those guys have nobody to blame but themselves. Trae deferred to them too often to be honest.

I think it's clear this team gave up... now they are leaving the team. Hell, Brady Manek himself said they gave up... said they lost their "want" to win.

Is there anything worse a player can say than that?

The team let the team down. They all have skin in the game. TY jacked up ridiculous shots at the end of the RI game when we had a chance to win. He got his pocket picked that led to a 3. Others made mistakes as well.

LK made the team about TY. Whether that was right or not is arguable. He was no doubt the best player on the team but I can see where the offense we ran would frustrate other players.

No

Manek? Wtf. Why on earth? He won't find a better role anywhere else.. would get coached better elsewhere and his team as a whole then could be better with real coaching, but his role is as big as it could be for the freshman

Let's get something straight. McGusty never played a lick of defense and his attitude
sucked since he has been here. They did not ask him to stay when he asked for his
release. Jordan was a good kid but was not going to be the point guard next year.
They were both told OU was going to bring in other players to take their spots and it
was up to them if they wanted to stay or go. The team is looking for more hardnosed
kids to play for Oklahoma, kids that want to play tough and improve, not just be happy
that they are at Oklahoma. This is not a team imploding, it is a team that the coaches
are tired of having to coddle and this is the result. Look for at least one more to go.

OUHoops posters: "This team needs to be gutted. We need guys who want to be here. We're going to suck next year because we have a bunch of weak minded players."

Also OUHoops posters: "The world is ending. Players are leaving left and right. We're going to suck next year. Can't believe we are letting talented players leave."

Pick one. Stop saying everyone should lose their scholarship, and then crying when players transfer.

Welcome back!

I never got that vibe from Shepherd. He always seeemed to play hard imo

You normally have good info, but it's been reported that OU (LK) met with McGusty and his parents on Saturday, and tried to convince him to stay.

So yeah. OU isn't good enough to run off top 40 type kids (recruiting), even after two mediocre years. This past year was a lost season, as nobody improved from the PY except maybe McNeace.

I was not referring to Shep's effort. He always gave good effort. He is just a
mid-major player. He is a great kid, just not what we need at point

I didn't read it like that at all. I read it that Shepherd isn't the most talented and was told that he was going to be recruited over.

When the Leopard speaks, you best pay attention! Hope to see you around more, Sir!

Not aggressive is how I would describe him.

I hope this is true.
