I don't think so. I believe ViVi will likely be a better player along with Kaylon. She adds depth which could come into play in the event of an injury but otherwise I doubt if she gets significant minutes.

stoop,
for the upcoming season? Maybe not.

for future seasons, for ranking the recruiting class. Yes.
for spring recruiting, it's the best player Sherri has added since may be Maria Villarroel.

You know, you may be right, and a position we desperately need.

Roc,
Treece is easily without any real argument at all the best HS prospect that Sherri has signed during the spring recruiting time.

I couldn't get a real read on how good Treece might be. I have read that she is a top sixty prospect. My only observation was that she had good feet. Since she had a broken foot, that seems silly. But, she is light on her feet for a big girl, and she is not a little girl.

She may not be good. She may surprise us. Since she is on a team with a UConn recruit and an Iowa State point guard, she didn't get much of an opportunity to show what she can do. But, she was an MVP.

Total agreement, I am so glad we did not go the JUCO route. This gives Treece time to acclimate to our system and I hope will fight for playing time. One thing I do know about her, if Patterson wanted her, she must be a tough hard nosed player. The past few seasons KSU hasn't had elite players to speak of, but they sure know how to play hard and beat people they shouldn't. I think we got a real solid kid.

syb,
played on a team with big time prospects.
HS team played some very tough national competition in tournaments where Treece was the tourney MVP.
I think her HS credentials are very good. But you never know.
But picking up a quality HS Center/PF prospect anytime is good news, but picking up that level of HS prospect at that position in spring is a big time move.
I realize it took KSU firing their coach to open things back up, but Sherri/coaches took advantage of the window.

Treece was offered by Iowa, Mizzou, and Drake.

Iowa went 27-9 this past year pounding Marist 87-65 in the NCAA tourney before losing to Louisville in the second round.

Mizzou went 17-14. This is a team that is rebuilding and are bringing in some good players.

While Drake is not a good program, the other two teams are not shabby.

ESPN gives her 3 stars and Prospects Nation gives her 4 stars. When I see her described as the "Consumate blue-collar insider", it reminds me of Caton Hill. There was no finesse about her game just a tough hard-nosed player that didn't back down from anyone or anything. As someone else said, Patterson is known for going after girls who are fundamentally sound and play hard. I'm anxious to see how she does against D-1 competition. Just guessing, she will have the highest basketball IQ of all of our bigs.
