Mercer hanging with Duke?? FIRE COACH K!!!

News flash!!!: Mercer is good! Hoffman can coach!

Could Mercer be the next Cinderella? I hope so. Bob Hoffman deserves the recognition.
 
We lost last night but just wait. Lon has got this team going in the right direction. NDSU beat us with a Senior laden team. Just like Mercer beating Duke with all their highly talented recruits. Team chemistry and playing together all those years makes a huge difference. Mark it down for all the naysayers. This OU team is going to be very good next year and the year after.
 
All things being equal, a senior team should have an advantage over a young team. Coack K was quoted as saying "we are playing against men out there" as Mercer started 5 seniors, with 2 more on the bench.

Obviously in this case, the senior-laden team just flat-out beat the younger (but more talented) team.

This is one reason I would love to see OU add a 5th year graduate transfer to the roster for next season; preferably a post player. I understand that this is a long-shot, as lots of teams want to land these guys.

It's a faulty premise. ONLY looking at the times when a senior laden team beats a better, but younger team. How man times does the better, younger team, beat the seniors?

Of course all things equal, you take the seniors. I'm sure Duke wishes their kids were all 2 years older. But nobody in the world is going to take Mercer's seniors over Duke's young guys.

Good riddance! His own damn fault for recruiting one and dones. Reap/sow/grim reaper/seed sower/etc :D

Also, I like that they are now the tournament laughing stock instead of anyone that lost the wrong end of a 5/12
 
I see your logic ... but still disagree because on a national stage, in a tight game, with all the pressure on every move, I will take the seniors.
 
Bringing this discussion closer to home ... It does not appear that OU will ever have the "talent level" on their roster compared to a Duke or Kentucky. However, OU has a better chance to excel as these sophomores and freshmen grow into Seniors and Juniors.

If Kruger could somehow add a "one-and-done" type of talent in the next two seasons to go with our seniors and juniors, well, I can dream ...

Are there any recruits we are after who fit that mold?
 
Self at Kansas, IMO, has done the best job of roster management in the country with a steady supply of one and done superstar level talent, supplemented with developmental 3-4 year guys. This is probably the youngest team he's had, but they always seem to have a bunch of upperclassmen waiting in the wings to contribute.

In fact, I would be very surprised if in the past decade any school has had as many juniors and seniors drafted as Kansas has.
 
If this team stays together they are going to be special along with what Coach Kruger brings in. One and done guy would be great but that's not going to happen. I really believe this bunch can make a final four run before their done. JMO.

That sound you hear is not me laughing with you but AT you. The onus was on you to provide some examples since you used the term "tons" which denotes "many". You provided one and it was a quasi-example because you didn't provide proof and I would bet Nova had a few good seniors on that team specifically the white guy who beat us in 06.

There seriously is no point in trying to argue with internet know it all's like you who only read what they want to hear and frame everything according to only their own justifications to prove themselves right. Have a good life.

Before the brackets came out, I wanted to take them out early. I thought they'd get past Mercer (in a tight one), but I didn't think Michigan would beat them. So next thing you know, I have them in the Elite 8, against a UL team that I wanted to take out early too.

I had them losing to the Vols in my main bracke, then New Mexico ruined that bracket
