Mickey Mitchell?

I don't get the passing flare that guys do now. I get no look passes. I don't get passing and then looking away like this kid does.

if the brother gets a waver from the NCAA, he has to play within a certain amount of distance from his home. So TCU, SMU and possibly Baylor are the only schools he can get a waver to.

If Baylor is a possibility, so is OU. Difference in distance between the two is negligible.

70 miles and an extra hour of driving is not neligible when trying to get a waver from the NCAA

I saw him not too long ago. Seems like he has maxed out his potential. Seemed to be more of an undersized forward.

Feel similar to this...really good high school player, not sure how it would translate to a high major. Hasn't grown much in a couple years.

I guess there is a new 100 mile rule of which I wasn't aware.

Why do you say this? What knowledge do you have to make a statement like this? Personally, I have watched a lot of basketball and I don't think I have the ability to determine if a player has maxed out his potential in high school.

How much HS ball do you watch?

Some skills don't translate as well as others. For example, got to see Allonzo Trier last weekend...his skills translate VERY well to high major collegiate ball.

Almost zero and very close to zero. Even if I watched a lot of high school basketball, I don't think I would be particularly qualified to make statements like player X has maxed out his potential.

He was once the number 1 player in the country for his class. He was 6ft7 as a freshman and hasn't grown. He also suffered a major injury and isn't as mobile as he needs to be.

On the flip side I love his AU teammate dj Hogg. He's a beast.

Boy did Plano West ridiculously underachieve with Mitchell, Hogg, Jamabo, and Avery Johnson.
Crazy thing was they were supposed to have Grandstaff too.

But they'll have Tyler Davis next year. If they don't win state, their coach should be out.

They always under-achieve.

To be fair, Mitchell didn't play much due to his injury.

They've never had talent close to this though. The only time I really remember them having any high-D1 talent was that white kid that Bobby Knight slapped or something at Tech. And I graduated high school with him, but can't remember his name for the life of me.

Odd.
Lubbock is SIGNIFICANTLY further from Plano than OU or any of the other schools mentioned.

There are likely lots of kids from his high school attending Tech. He may have just gone to have a good time. If you can't play sports, it is pretty darn hard to get into Texas (or A&M) from a good Texas school district.

Texas, yes, almost impossible. A&M, not that hard. Most of those kids end up at one of the area private schools or out of state. Not to say that there aren't some at Tech. But probably no more than there are at SMU, TCU, or UNT.

True, but still way closer than Ohio.

And he was definitely down there looking at the school. It wasn't a friendly visit. He was at the game with a DT from Hawaii that committed today/yesterday, and another recruit (forgetting who). Most of the football people in the know aren't big on the kid. A little slow to make too big of a difference in the Big 12.

If Texas Tech feels they have a shot, it's probably a telling sign.
