Mookie Blaylock indicted for fatal car crash

If this part is true, I don't see anyway he will be convicted.

Blaylock was seriously injured in the wreck and temporarily on life support, but he was released from the hospital days later. At the time of the wreck, a family member told police Blaylock has been under treatment for seizures, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

“He had a blackout and what caused it, whether it be from his NBA career or something else, we’re trying to get to the bottom of it,” Blaylock’s attorney, Don Samuel, previously told The AJC.

Blaylock didn’t swerve or attempt to brake in the moments before the crash, and his foot was “locked” up on the accelerator due to a blackout, Samuel said.

Blaylock has occasionally experienced these medical episodes in the past, his attorney previously said.

After being released from the hospital, Blaylock surrendered and was temporarily jailed before posting $250,000 bond.
Last year’s fatal crash came just weeks after Blaylock was arrested in Spalding County. Earlier this year, he pleaded guilty to DUI and hit-and-run charges stemming from the March 2013 incident and was sentenced to 30 days in jail.

Three days after being released from the Spalding jail, charges were upgraded in the Clayton County case due to new evidence, the county’s solicitor said. No evidence has been released indicating that Blaylock was under the influence at the time of the fatal crash.

Ultimately it comes down to what the "new evidence" is. If it shows he was under the influence of alcohol or a drug then he is likely in trouble.

Either way, it's sad to see a former OU great go through an ordeal like this. Sadder still for the people who lost their loved ones in that crash.

What if it is drugs for his seizure issues?

if they were prescription then he would have been told not to operate the car while using. This would be printed on the bottle. If his dr told him he could drive while on them then i believe the dr would ultimately be at fault.

I believe from the reports last year he was driving on a suspended license.

I think his license was revoked due to his medical condition. If I am recalling correctly that is what will get him in trouble.

Ouch. He'll definitely serve some time (I'd think) if that is true.

Mookie had a DUI in 2009, 2 DUI's in 2010, a DUI in 2012, and a DUI in 2013 a couple months before this crash. which his license was suspended for when he ran over & killed this lady.

How wasn't he already in jail?

This might be the only thing I have ever agreed with you on.
