Muoneke Sucks!

Officals only get upset if you make fun of their shiny bald head and ask if they use wax on the dome.

Well...and if you grab the mic and say something like "regardless of how bad the officiating is...".:billy

I recall a similar incident during an osu game where Kelvin told the crowd to quit chanting osu sucks. To me that is as pointless as Boren telling us not to boo opposing teams.

Some of you need to remember the time. The word sucks wasn't near as mainstream and as acceptable as it is now.

That said, it was a tough choice to make by Kelvin. I wish he wouldn't have said anything.

haha probably so...

I just remember not hearing that as much on television, in school, etc...

I dunno. I do agree that he shouldn't have said anything about that.

I can remember back when at the OU-Texas (football) game, every time the Texas band entered/exited the field and were introduced by the Texas band PA guy, he always said "The Texas Longhorn band; BEAT THE HELL OUT OF OU".

I started attending the OU-Texas game in 1980, and they were saying it then. At the time, I was 9 and my conservative southern baptist parents never cussed, so hearing that said over the loudspeaker was very strange to me.

This went on for a number of years before, in the early to mid 90's, the OU band PA announcer finally said "The Priiiiiiiiiiiiiddddddddeeeee of OKLAHOMA; BEAT THE HELL OUT OF TEXAS". After that, it was never said again by either the Texas or OU band and hasn't been since.

Not to mention the Texas alums, also since I started attending the OU-Texas game (probably before), has always ended their fight song with "OU SUCKS".

During the Texas-Missouri game a couple of weeks ago, the camera was on some middle aged UT fan in the crowd who clearly substituted the aforementioned two word blasphemy at the end of their fight song. They were playing Missouri! It's like he thought those really were the words to the song....lame.

UT sings OU sucks everytime, it's part of there fightsong now

That is a bit of stretch in my opinion. This happened in the mid to late ninties. I don't remember the exact season but Sampson did not take over at OU until 1995. I think sucks was pretty acceptable and chanted by entire crowds at sporting events in the 80s. Hey Ref You Suck! and O S U Sucks! were widely used long before that incident by OU crowds.

What set Kelvin off was when people cheered when a referee was hurt. But don't let that come between people and their overwhelming desire to act like immature idiots.

It's unbelieveable that after last year anyone could hold a grudge against Kelvin for wanting our fans to act like something other than Aggies or Longhorns.

I just thank the good Lord above that you're here to pass out the holier-than-thou soup. Seriously, maybe the worst, most wussified post in internet history. You've outdone yourslef, and thats saying alot.

The crowd was chanting Muoneke sucks becuase Muoneke, as well as everything else Texas, sucks.

As an OU fan, you should probably uunderstand that.

Do you take coffee and doughnuts to the visitors hotel when they're in town?

Seriously, get off your high-horse, its sickening.

MsProud's recollection of what happened is entirely accurate. I was at the game. The official fell down, and the crowd laughed and cheered. Kelvin took the mic and semi-scolded the fans for the behavior and then made the comment about refraining from chanting Muoneke sucks, Texas sucks, etc.

And quite honestly, I'm not sure why it was that big of a deal. I'm very surprised it's still a topic of discussion 15 years later. I'd rather talk about how much Kelvin's teams owned Texas instead of what he said about the crowd!

It was a naive request by a young coach early in his career at OU. But it was meant with good intensions, and there was a semi-embarrassing event (the crowd laughing at an injured official) that triggered his comments.
