The piece during the Kansas/Kentucky game on each school's all time greatest team, got me to thinking about what OU's best team would be. For me, the greatest OU team that could be assembled would be:

Griffin at the 5;
Tisdale at the 4;
Buddy at one wing:
Mookie at the point;

I need one more wing. Need someone 6'4 or better, that can defend the wing and shoot the 3. I am considering Erdman, Minor, Seager, Hamilton, Ebbi, and Skeeter. Who am I missing?

Price, Price, and brewer are too short. Ace, Jackie Jones couldn't defend the position (stay in front of anyone). I am leaning toward's minor or Skeeter, but surely there is someone I am forgetting. Have we had any other all American wings?

My thinking is that tisdale and griffin were both elite low post scorers, mookie could defend the point better than anyone that ever lived and score and Buddy is our version of Michael Jordan. Do everything. Need help, who else do I put on this team.

I don't see how you can leave Hollis off if you need another guard.

5 - Alvin Adams
4 / 3 - Blake Griffin & Wayman Tisdale
2 - Buddy Hield
1 - Mookie Blaylock

I say go big, and let the other team adjust. Not trying to forget Hollis, I am just going to throw Adams some love.

I would put King at the 5, move Tisdale to the 3 and Griffin to the 4. Don't think King should be left off an all-time OU team.

This. You can't leave Alvan off an All-OU team. Go look at his record on NBA reference.com.

1 - Lester Lane
2 - Mookie Blaylock
3 - Blake Griffin
4 - Alvan Adams
5 - Wayman Tisdale

One player you're forgetting in Alvan Adams. One of the 3 or 4 greatest players in OU history. He had the 2nd highest average scoring for a season and career.

Cowboy, for the team you're assembling, the guy you're looking for is Anthony Bowie. He played 8-9 years in the NBA as a defensive specialist who could also hit that occasional 3-pointer. In the NBA, he was basically a poor man's Michael Cooper.

Some of you young guys just don't realize how good Alvan Adams was. He was rated the #1 HS player in the nation. His first game as a freshman he scored 34 points and got 28 rebounds. He left OU after his junior year when he scored 26.5 points and 13.3 rebounds a game. He was NBA rookie of the year and averaged 14.1 points over 13 seasons for the Phoenix Suns. The guy could do it all: Pass, shoot, rebound, and defend.

He has to be on any all-time Sooner team.

Known as the "Oklahoma Kid" and "Double A," Alvan Adams was an All-American basketball player from Putnam City, who later blazed trails at the University of Oklahoma before playing 13 seasons in the NBA for the Phoenix Suns.

Adams lettered three years at Putnam City, helping lead his team to the 4A State Championship and earning All-American and High School Player of the Year honor in 1972. He picked the University of Oklahoma over schools such as Maryland, UCLA, Vanderbilt and Kansas.

At OU he proceeded to set a number of new records such as most points in a game (43), the most rebounds in a game (28), the highest single season scoring average of 26.5 as a junior and the highest single rebounding average of 13.3 as a junior. He was the only unanimous selection on the Big Eight Conference 1970s All-Decade Team.

In 1974, Adams was selected to play on the USA Team that toured China and played in the World University Games in Moscow. He carried a 3.8 grade point average in pre-medicine while at OU and was on the Dean's Honor List. He was named both the Big Eight Player of the Year and MVP of the Big Eight Tournament three times.

Before by-passing his senior year for the NBA draft, Adams set Sooner records of 1,707 points and 938 rebounds. He was named "Rookie-of-the-Year in 1976 and during 13 pro seasons with the Phoenix Suns he scored a total of 13,910 points.

He ranks on the Suns all time list being first in rebounds (6,937), had 4,012 assists, 1,289 steals and played in a total of 988 games. In his pro-career, he averaged 14.1 points and 7 rebounds per game, a .788 percentage from the free throw line. He averaged 4.1 assists per game and ranked third in line behind Wilt Chamberlain's 4.4 and Bill Russell's 4.3.

Adams was the Sun's first "Rookie of the Year," and was the only rookie selected to the 1976 NBA All-Star Game. He was instrumental in the Suns winning their first Western Conference title and their participation in the 1976 championship. He led all scorers in the 1976 championship finals against the Celtics, leading with 138 total points and single game high of 33.

5. King
4. Tisdale
3. Griffin
2. Price
1. Blaylock

We've had a lot of good players over the years so I picked the 5 guys who did the best in the ncaa tournament. Hield has a shot to crack it but we're making the list now.

I was not putting a greatest players list, or you would have to consider adams, lane, and hollis.

I want a good team. Bowie is the man. I totally forgot about him. I want him at the wing opposite of Buddy. Whoever said that, thanks.

Waymon couldn't guard the 3. Edwardo couldn't guard the 3 and isn't as good as Waymon or Blake.

I am going with Bowie. Was just about ready to go with Skeeter over Minor (picking defense over offense) when reminded of Anthony Bowie.

OK, now I am ready to go play anyone else's team. We need a tournament, with OU's team and Duke, NC, Kansas, Kentucky, Syracuse, Louisville and UCLA. So, each school gets there best 5 allstar "team", not best 5 players at any position.

So, what place does OU finish in this 8 team tournament.

The best OU players/team I've seen are in (order by position)...

1 Mookie Blaylock
2 Buddy Hield
3 Wayman Tisdale
4 Blake Griifin
5 Stacey King

I have zero doubts Wayman could play the 3 as he was really only about 6-7 and an incredible athlete. If we have to pick a traditional 3, I would go with Minor.

I didn't see Adams play so any team I would pick wouldn't include him for that reason. I assume he was great but I only pick teams of players I've laid eyes on.
