nbadraft.net has Buddy Hield going 8th Overall

Cbs and ESPN haven't updated their's since December 30th and 18th. So maybe he will see a jump there as well.

Terrific news for Buddy! I hope he is a lottery in the next draft.

A number of posters on this board thought he should have come out last year for one reason or another. I was not one of them. The improvements he has made and his rise in the draft projections seem to support his decision.

IMO, he definitely made the right decision for him and for OU. I'm glad he did!

nbadraft.net is a fan site that should not be taken seriously ... they just own a good url

draftexpress and chad ford espn .. are much better if you want to follow the draft ..

If he doesn't get an injury, then he definitely made the right decision.
I hope he and Cousins have an insurance policy.

Whatever the projections are Buddy is gonna go a lot higher then he would have last year - every game I see him play in I'm just amazed at the hard work and improvement he's shown.

Buddy is going to be a lottery pick if he can maintain his 3 pt shooting levels. Like I said in another thread, I have never seen a player improve this much from their junior to senior year.

I was just telling someone this a couple days ago. Hes improved more this year than any. Thats work.

several scouts have come out and said, he's lottery bound, even being a senior.

The highest percentage from 95/96 forward was 56.03 by Micah Mason of Duquesne in 2013/14. Only 9 players have shot above 50% on the season (2.5 per game not sure if that is attempts or makes). After Mason is drops all the way to 51.28. The only guys to do it in Power Five conferences (50% or above) are Salim Stoudamire (Arizona 2005 at 50.42%), Jon Diebler (Ohio State 2011 at 50.22%) and Josh Carter (Texas A&M, 2007 at 50%).

If you look at the list there are not a lot of power five players on it.http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/leaders/fg3-pct-player-season.html
I assume most are one trick ponies which Hield is definitely not. So I would agree, if he shoots 50% on the season and continues to penetrate, score on breaks, rebound, and defend he should be a lottery pick. Almost nobody has ever shot at such a high percentage on a season. Hield is doing it as the one guy teams want to stop.

Look at his 3pt stats!! They are unreal! He already broke the attempt record and will break the single season record in what 3 4 games. If we go deep in big 12 tourney and the ncaa tourney he has a legit shot a breaking the single season scoring record for OU. I don't see him going higher than 10-15 area because he is a senior and a finished product in the NBA minds.

I won't argue with this, but would throw one name out there...Bryant Vann under Tubbs. He randomly was pretty awesome his senior year if memory serves...But yeah, Buddy has gone from good to great for sure!

That's a little silly (on their part). He made a huge leap mere weeks ago; who's to say he can't make another?

Right. But the scouts and front offices have an insatiable desire for "potential" whatever that might be.. and the usually excludes upperclassmen

I'm no NBA scout, but he looks like the kind of player that will thrive in the modern NBA. He hits 3s and is a monster in transition while being able to guard multiple positions. Plus he can rebound. Guy like that have a place in the NBA today. In the past he might not have been strong enough to play the 3, but in the modern NBA I think he can be a SG/SF who stretches the court and pushes the ball.

he can't guard the 3 in the NBA he is and undersized 2 in the nba ..

LeBron Durant paul George are 3's in the nba ..

I think he could play the 2 if he improves his handles a little. Fran Fraschilla was on the Sports Animal last night and brought up Jodie Meeks. I think it's a decent comparison. Meeks is 6'4" 208 and seen primarily as a shooting specialist. He's in the 8th season of what's been a really solid NBA career. And I think Buddy has a lot more offensive game/talent than Meeks.

I agree ...

10-15 is the right area, but that's still a lottery pick. He was a second rounder last year, that jump is almost unprecedent for a junior to senior, but it's going to happen and it should happen (assuming that Buddy can maintain at least an 80% level of what he's done thus far).
