New Commit!

Well, let's just play 5 guards with no one over 5-9. Who needs rebounding, blocks, bulk or height to win a national title.

Syb has spoken.

T'Ona Edwards 2013 PG of Northeast Academy Commits
To OU!

It does seem like Sherri likes guards even going with more of a 4 guard 1 post or 3 guards a wing forward and post type line up, With Hook coming back as the only true point guard I get this commitment. T'ona is only 5'4 that's really small with the size of some of the other big 12 guard, but if she is really fast then she could use it to her advantage and make an impack in a Sooner uniform.

I got the impression that she is all about cat-quick defense. Any offensive skills?

NE didn't play well the night I saw them but honestly, she didn't stand out to me on the offensive end but that's a one game observation.

The Oklahoman
High school notebook: Northeast's T'ona Edwards commits to Oklahoma
By Scott Wright, Ryan Aber and Jason Kersey | Published: April 4, 2013

Northeast Academy senior guard T'ona Edwards verbally committed to Sherri Coale's Oklahoma squad and will sign with the Sooners for next season, Vikings coach Londaryl Perry told The Oklahoman.

Perry said Coale called Tuesday to offer Edwards a scholarship.

Edwards gives the Sooners four newcomers for next season, joining Carl Albert guard Gioya Carter; Brentwood, Tenn., guard Derica Wyatt; and Ames, Iowa, forward Shaya Kellogg.

Edwards' commitment comes only days after her Northeast teammate, 2014 guard prospect LaNesia Williams, pledged to play for OU.

Edwards and Williams helped lead Northeast to a 30-0 record and the Class 2A state championship last month. Edwards averaged 16.7 points and seven rebounds per game as a senior.

T'ona Edwards averaged 16.7 points. She must have some offensive skills.

Something I did not know about Northeast Academy ...

Northeast Academy for Health Sciences and Engineering

The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences has had a formal programmatic relationship with the Oklahoma City Public Schools' Northeast Academy for Health Sciences and Engineering for the past fifteen years. The relationship with the Academy is focused around the Discovery Program, a program for 11th and 12th grade students at Northeast.

Mac, do you think this means that Sherri decided she had no shot at signing Ortiz?
